I think looking at the comparative weather forecasts on the BBC & Metcheck exemplifies what a completely pointless exercise putting any faith in these things really is. Metcheck currently says dry throughout with UV Index of 8 on each of the 3 days. BBC predicts we will at least have light showers every day and a UV max of 5 with heavy showers & UV of 2 on Sunday. What’s the fucking point of even giving these things a moment’s credence? It’s all bollocks and either makes you overly optimistic or unnecessarily miserable depending on which you choose to believe! We’ve had fucking horrendous weather at pretty much every festival I’ve been to this year. But while it would undoubtedly be nice to sit on the grass once in a while it’s never going to be the deciding factor on whether I enjoy the weekend or not. :D

Ok that's it

Idaho's official Endorse It Weather Forecast

The festival will be generally dry. There might be the odd shower, but you will either be in a tent, at the bar, asleep or too twatted to care. There will also be a few moments where you can sit down on the ground if you bring a plastic bag with you to sit on. By the time you get there you won't care too much as the odd bit of water in the sky won't make the ground that wet. Chalky, flinty downland drains very quickly and after a week of sun the chance of mud is set at less than 10%.

Balbi will as well, or mayyyyyyyyyyyyybe not :D

I've just picked up some pilsner tumblers and hi-ball dittos for cocktails and other beverages. 50cl bottles of buxton are 39p for two at Wilkinsons at the minute - get four and fill them with vodka and it's almost like a daily ration ;)

<Almost darent talk about the weather!! ;) >

But I don't think there'll won't be much rain, going on today's updates -- for once Metcheck seems to me a more likely outcome than the BBC.

I'd agree that forecasts more than about 4 days out are only an outline guide and can be pretty changeable/unreliable, but we're getting towards reliable timeframe now. The contradictions coud well resolve themselves, hopefully in sun and dryness's favour ...

TC -- it was mosty sunny at WOMAD but there'd been a deluge on the Thursday as people were arriving, and another downpour on Saturday night. Lots of peole + heavy vehicles = churned up mud.

We wont get that this w/e unless we're very unlucky.

i know it doesn't look great, but it's not going to be a mudbath whatever happens. Last year was pretty grey all weekend and everyone had a fantastic time, so i think we should all quit fretting..

Thing is, I wasn't especially, because the outlook yesterday (that post was the links was an effort to be positive FFS!!!) was so good and still remains quite good ... :)

I know I do fret at times, but not this time, really ...

subject to tomorrow's updates  :p

i'm coming in the dream-mobile early on friday but my other half has to work til 12:30. what are the transport options? anyone on train from london around 2 or 3pm? how do you get to the site?

I'm of the opinion that the A354 will be full of cars willing to pick up hitchers from salisbury.

You can get the bus from Salisbury to Handley Cross roundabout

We're getting the one around 5 but they're quite rare.

cool. I've no idea what my mobile number is, but chances are the onw you have is right :)

William was fretting the most.

No more than normal, and probably less than normal ...

Check bus's earlier answer for why some at least of us very frequent festie goers have a quite understandable preference for dry and nice, after what we've endured so far this season. I'm not the only fretter, you should see some of the festival forums! Elsewhere, the rain/sun thread on the Glade went on for over ten pages, and I only contributed about twice ...

But for us, it'll be cool (not hot) and mostly dry, and pleasant :)

tis a fair cop m'lud. Three fests this year...three extreme weather warnings...three quagmires. Now I'll have a blast regardless..i shal gambol around like a new born lamb fuelled by falafels, cider an dirty nitrous oxide....i'd just like to be able to sit down periodically...t'has all :)

well i suffered from grievous constipation last year, so it'd come as a relief..

thats probably more information than you were looking for i expect..........

:) I'll probably get there about 3-5pm as i'll need to go shopping before the festie:mad: as i havent and wont have time/car til then.
