They let you take booze into the arena?

Yup!

But most of these are ones where there is no or hardly any difference between the camping bit and the main bit, it's all one bit. There aren't barriers in between.

Exactly. There is no 'arena' at Glastonbury, so things are a bit different. Officially I don't think they allow glass, they never used to anyway.

I'm thinking cocktails and getting excited but I have a bit of a problem. 2 problems in fact, my broken ribs :(

I can't lift (although I can lift a glass:D ) and I can't bend down. So I can't put up or take down my tent :(

Can I be a complete wuzz and ask people to do this for me

I know I've bullied Tort into putting up my tent in the past but this time I really can't do it myself. Anyone offering to help? :)

I will of course be bringing boose

We'll be there for tent-upping Shirl.
in fact I think there's a chance we'll be sitting outside with a picnic before the gates open. :D

Long shot.... does anyone know if National Express are doing coaches to it? I know they do it for other festivals but I can't find out on their webshite.

(If I go..)

We'll be there for tentupping too SHirl :)

What time are you planning on getting there?

I think we'll be there around 1 or 2, now...no point in leaving London until after rushour in a vehicle....

Knocky has no arena as such. It's much like Glasto on a micro scale in that respect. Of the others only WOMAD really have a strict policy of having to show wristbands as you enter the arena & they have no problem with taking your own booze. BD, Sunrise & Solfest have "arenas" but the security is very low key & again no probs taking your own.

woop! See u there then :)

Hey - has anyone else got a gazebo they can bring to camp urban?

I got mine out of the shed last week and loads of the poles are missing ...haven't used it for 3 years.

I could get another one I guess...they're about £10 from B and Q these days aren't they......

Er... with the no glass rule - a collective effort becomes more challenging - if not impossible...

The alternative is that I take general requests for cocktails in advance - make up large bottles of them, which I bring in my freezer box and just pour them straight out.

The advantage of this is that no-one else needs to worry about it too much, the downside is that I will have to make the drinks (no big deal) and then work out how much to charge people so I'm not out of pocket.

I could easily make up bottles of:

2 x Mojito
Margherita
2 x Long Island Ice Tea
Zombie
Cosmopolitan
Harvey Wallbanger

Say each bottle would contain about 8 drinks. 8 x 8 = 64 drinks

er.. as for cost - about £60 - making it around £1 a drink.

me likely

No, nor me. I really need to get there on the Thursday, so I think it is going to have to be a megabus job. I have lifts sorted I think. Don't know if it is worth going to be honest. If it rains I will fucking shoot the first cheery cunt I see.

After getting quite worried at Glasto that the tent was going to start letting rivers of water through, I have Nikwax'ed it and oiled my zips which were sticking a bit.

I am very impressed with nitwax. Seems to have done the trick brilliantly. Highly recommended.

All set to go.

 I am totally unprepared!

I have moved from a flat to a house, whilst working full time and having my 3 kids home for school hols - total chaos! also having to go to wales twice (there and back) all in the last three weeks!

I'm gonna spend the week frantic no doubt - I spect i'll be like a big blob of jelly by the time i get to the festie - ahhh I'm looking forwards to this:cool:

It's alright Miss Daisy, I have no idea how I am getting there. Where I am going to sleep or how I am going to get to London. I have no tent, sleeping bag, no wellies and all my stuff is still muddy from Glade and Glastonbury :)

I am 80% going - need to sort a few things out first.

:D Thats extreme! I'm too old for those shenanigans(spell check) I need comfort now - I'm gonna bring my quilt:cool:

I'm planning on bring a load of fruit(if i get organized and write a bloody list!) pineapples and ting, you're welcome to a munch:D thats all i'll be living on i spect.

*packs extra socks for firky*

06:45 Depart Newcastle, Neville Street
Arrive London Victoria, Greenline Coach Station 16:50

Fuck sake :D

Fucking right they are. Went to Oxford the other week and missed my connection because the fucker was stuck in traffic so I had to hang around in Brum for 4 hours with a massive ruck sack. It took me 16 hours or something daft from leaving the house to getting to my destination. I slept like a log that night :)

I can get a return on national express for £19 to London though. Bargin.

That's just the souths way of making sure you northerners go back to where you came from. I bet it costs a shitload for a single :D

You know, with all due respect, balbi, that is the most tiresome and over used thing. It isn't even funny or witty. It is just boring and only makes you look like an ignoranus. Don't mean to be arsey with you its just so fucking tiresome. Bit like the kid at school who gets called four eyes. Yawn.

Hahaha southern people all drink half pints and are soft, hahaha!

To be fair, firks, throwing tired old jokes back at you is just our way of limbering up before doing the 9-11 threads :D

I'm pretty certain..like 99.9% certain, its no glass anywhere on site

Idaho said:
Er... I dunno. I've been to a few festivals over the years and not managed to notice. Maybe no glass in the arena - but in the camping area?

Can anyone confirm? If so the cocktail plan will require severe adjustment.

After a weekend of pain and hardly any sleep trying out not sleeping in my comfy bed, I've decided there's no way I can camp this weekend :(

If anyone wants a cheap ticket, mine's now going spare. £50 - pm if you're interested.

I'm really sorry to miss this but I need my ribs to mend before I can camp. I'm now hoping for improvement by Solfest on the 24th.
