both those stoves are quite wobbly though - for standing on grass and balancing things on top.

i was looking at one of these:

which you can also get for about a tenner (plus a couple of quid for the gas).
Those are great. I took mine last year (although it wasnt working and I did it wrong, should have let Daisy fix it like she offered  ).

I took booze and crisps and coffee. The rest is great on site. The Mezze was delish, I had that one eve. Chips another night and veggie brekkie one morning. That was me done really, and I dont do drugs.

As long as I got my cooker for morning coffee, I shall be happy. The messy cooks in the veggie cafe on campsite took forever to do anything and I cant be doing with that again first thing.

Weather crappy here, same as last year, so I expect it will be gorgeous as ever for Endorseit...... :D

no really, I'm not interested in stuff, material possessions or unnecessary crap.

this is the point I was trying to make really.

it's a weekend long party in a field, not the fucking ideal home show

In JTG's defence I don't think he was being aggresive. Just saying that beyond shelter, a sleeping bag and a change of clothes you don't really need much else. I'm sure you can survive two days with out a duvet, pillow and a proper meal!

Ray Mears should do a festival guide.

i don't want to survive. i want to have a lovely time. I don't want to be crippled with backache and i don't want to be hugry and i don't want to be cold.

My very first festival (reading 92) was awful and i hated it and it took me years to go to another. People need different levels of comfort to be happy. It doesn't make me wrong or you wrong, does it?

I shan't be washing my hair - but it would be odd of me to criticise those who do, no?:(

Festivals aren't for people like you & it's a shame that it seems that they're being angled more towards that 'market'. Ruins it for the rest of us innit.

:p

;)

True words spoken in jest? Maybe. :( :hmm:

Nah that's a bit bollocks actually Onket. You've clearly never been to womad. :p

There's nothing cool about making yourself unhappy, and if you like all your home comforts round you bloody well take them! If I wasn't restricted to what I can carry on the tube and walk a few miles with, I'd certainly take more than one duvet. :D

When I was a kid I'd muck about in streams and burns all day, dig holes, climb trees, make dens - sleep out in a den I made with a small fire and cook sausages on a stick. As long as I had a pen knife I was grand. Maybe it is a hangup from that. But I take a pleasure in being stripped back to the bare essentials but by christ it is nice to get into a hot shower and climb into your own bed after a festival :D

Having said that if I could afford one of those tipis I would do that

Fucking hairdressers on site, cashpoints, mobile phone sponsors, carling everywhere, fuck knows. All sorts.

Progress n all that, but I bet loads of people don't go anymore cos the target market has shifted.

i can do my own hair, and i shan't be using any of the other stuff. I just want to be comfortable. I don't want anything from the organisers that you don't.:(

Er, when I was an adult I still did all that stuf  :D but both are great. I can't see how one ruins it for the other! When I used to turn up to Glastonbury with nothing but a small blanket and a fiver, I'd be over the moon to make friends with someone who had a camper with a bit of room, a shower and oven with cake baking in it. :D If not, I'd sleep under the stage out of the rain.

Don't listen to Onket. Last year we had a full cocktail bar for our campsite, complete with giant gazebo, settees, and cocktail sticks with pirates on them.

Hairdressers? Have you been looking out for them then?

Cash points -are fine - i'd rather not have all my money and lose it whilst pissed somewhere.

mobile phone sponsers - well, the festival organisers need money to make these things happen.

Carling everywhere- that'll be to down to the workers Beer Company who still are raising lots of money for the unions and other lefty organisiastions.

me think that you are just looking to grumble...

You would. :p

I spose as people get older they might support these changes, I just preferred it as it was.

The best festival I have been to recently is Fusion in Germany. No corporate sponsors, no advertising, ticket prices kept down, advising people to bring enough money for the weekend (when did we start having to do this- it's a joke!), blah, blah, blah....

Anyway, not really expecting many people to agree with me, can tell that already from people's opinions on the thread.

No, do listen, because I am (badly) making valid points. :p ;)

I do see your points, and that's why we have bare bones festivals like shambala, as opposed to burlesque lost vagueness type of things or all-mod-cons Womad. But I didn't want you so scare off Spanglechick, as it'd be nice to have her there. :D

You would. :p

Everything changes - i spend too much time being nostalgic about the good old days but it ain't gonna magically fix it. I'd rather things weren't corporate but now adays everyone wants a piece of the festy pie hence loads of festies charging arm and leg for camping with shit toilets, one band you wanna see and some crap larger...:D

I do agree with you but I don't want to get into on this thread :p
