we never keep the spirits or the burner inside the tent, just in caseI once had to deal with the consequences of one exploding inside someones tent and it wasn't pretty...

yawnarama. big wow, you went to a festival, it rained
you went to a festival and stayed in a tent, shaking, on your tod
Why are people wanking off over Glastonbury on this thread which is for a decent festival?
Those are great. I took mine last year (although it wasnt working and I did it wrong, should have let Daisy fix it like she offered ).both those stoves are quite wobbly though - for standing on grass and balancing things on top.
i was looking at one of these:
which you can also get for about a tenner (plus a couple of quid for the gas).
Calm down you grumpy fucker, it's like 3 posts about glastonbury.
no really, I'm not interested in stuff, material possessions or unnecessary crap.
this is the point I was trying to make really.
it's a weekend long party in a field, not the fucking ideal home show
In JTG's defence I don't think he was being aggresive. Just saying that beyond shelter, a sleeping bag and a change of clothes you don't really need much else. I'm sure you can survive two days with out a duvet, pillow and a proper meal!
Ray Mears should do a festival guide.
Festivals aren't for people like you & it's a shame that it seems that they're being angled more towards that 'market'. Ruins it for the rest of us innit.
True words spoken in jest? Maybe.
ruins it how?
Fucking hairdressers on site, cashpoints, mobile phone sponsors, carling everywhere, fuck knows. All sorts.
Progress n all that, but I bet loads of people don't go anymore cos the target market has shifted.
When I was a kid I'd muck about in streams and burns all day, dig holes, climb trees, make dens - sleep out in a den I made with a small fire and cook sausages on a stick. As long as I had a pen knife I was grand. Maybe it is a hangup from that. But I take a pleasure in being stripped back to the bare essentials but by christ it is nice to get into a hot shower and climb into your own bed after a festival
Having said that if I could afford one of those tipis I would do that
I worded it badly- please don't see it as a personal attack on you mate.
i can do my own hair, and i shan't be using any of the other stuff. I just want to be comfortable. I don't want anything from the organisers that you don't.
no worries - btw - your ticket sorted yet? milly molly has ordered one but won't be able to make it anymore.
Don't listen to Onket.
Hairdressers? Have you been looking out for them then?Fucking hairdressers on site, cashpoints, mobile phone sponsors, carling everywhere, fuck knows. All sorts.
No, do listen, because I am (badly) making valid points.
I didn't want you so scare off Spanglechick, as it'd be nice to have her there.
You would.
I spose as people get older they might support these changes, I just preferred it as it was.

The best festival I have been to recently is Fusion in Germany. No corporate sponsors, no advertising, ticket prices kept down, advising people to bring enough money for the weekend (when did we start having to do this- it's a joke!), blah, blah, blah....
Anyway, not really expecting many people to agree with me, can tell that already from people's opinions on the thread.
