Why does everyone expect to be able to take five bed semi detached tents and eat gourmet cuisine at festivals these days? It's ridiculous.

You can often get away without them on "outer first" tents, where gravity pulls the inner away from the (tensioned by the poles) flysheet, but a lot of the "inner first" designs rely on guys to pull the outer skin away from the inner...


If it's windy most tents need at least a couple of points secured to keep their shape.

Indeedy-do. Keeping the two skins seperate is very important. The camping at endorset gets much colder than at eg. glastonbury, so there's plenty of condensation/dew during the night and you don't want it coming through.

Think I might take some 'space blankets' this time - to tape on the sun facing side of the tent to stop it heating up so much.

It depends on what mood I'm in tbh - I'm quite happy to slum it and live on nowt but drugs for the weekend if need be, but Endorse It is basically our summer holiday, so I don't see the harm in having a comfy bed and decent food

Nah, the catering in the camping field is done by some hippy setup with proper coffee and china mugs and all sorts of teas and cooked breakfasts (veggie though)

You can't beat a home cooked pig fat roll when you emerge from your tent in the morning. Own cooked food is ace.
