A really nice little festival in the beautiful Dyfi valley in Mid Wales, its a celebration of and inspired by the life and work of the singer and poet Victor Jara murdered by the Pinochet regime. There are loads of artists from across the continent and the UK and the diaspora, inc peruvian scissor dances, Sofia Buchuck also from Peru,Italian songstress Silvia Balducci,Grupo Amigo Artista who are a Chilean and Bolivian ensemble based in London, Welsh music legend Dafydd Iwan,Galo Ceron will also present a recital of Latin American classical music by Augustine Barrios, Cristian Leiva will be representing the Victor Jara festival that takes place in Chillan, the birthplace of Victor. He is a young virtuoso charango player and presents magical versions of Andean melodies and much more

some of the impromtu collaborations are quite wonderful, cheap as well, only 30 quid!

oh, and it really isn't as po faced as the blurb suggests, at times its quite magical

Cardiff -> Shrewsbury, then Shrewsbury -> Machynlleth... journey takes three and a half hours, and the off-peak return is £48*.

* for travel today, its probably a bit cheaper pre-booked.
