Eddie Stobart RIP

It is with great sadness and regret that Stobart Group shares the news that Edward Stobart, son of Eddie Stobart, passed away
So I take it not the original Eddie?

e2a: First line of the Metro article:

Edward Stobart, whose father Eddie founded the haulage company during the1960s, collapsed after a suspected heart attack.

IIRC, This guy was the one who made the changes & expansions that turned the family firm into the name we know today.

He was a cunt, good riddance.

^^^^

If I've met one logistics manager of his er4a who had a good word to say I can't remember it. Drove down costs through crap practise and no amount of cheerily named trucks is giving anyone a fucking job back. Riddance.

The Eddie Stobart that just died grew the business his father started, and I think he sold it also, so it isn't a complete rags to riches story but still I read in one article that they now have more than 2,000 trucks, that is something. Also I can remember branded clothes and toys and all sorts, was there not even a cartoon along the lines of bob the builder? .. anyhow certainly a recognisable brand in Britain if you spend much time on the roads.

don't get all the RIP condolences etc messages. he was just the boss of a truck company.

yeah, sorry, i meant generally. it's been all over my facebook and twitter. i couldn't really care less. maybe i'm a bad person because of it.

Because people like the trucks and don't know anything about him.

Someone hired one as their wedding car once IIRC.

Oh I don't particularly care about the guy, don't know him from adam, but anyone who uses the road will have recognised some of the trucks, they are everywhere.

Perhaps I should have put it in transport!! :)

but, but, but he was the People's Boss of a Truck Company!

Like a candle in the slow lane going past the M1 widening at Luton...

I will always remember where I was when I found out Eddie Stobart passed away. The world will be a poorer place without him, he changed the world in so many ways. Goodnight, sweet prince.
