Ecuador v France (Group E) Wednesday 25th June 2014

Badgers

Mr Big Shrimp!
R.I.P.
France are virtually through already. With a +6 goal difference they have to lose big and Switzerland have to win big for them to go out. It is an interesting looking game though with Ecuador sitting on three points and only +2 goal difference over Switzerland.

Are France playing full strength? They've looked very good in the two previous games, so you could understand them only playing one of Benzema and Giroud, and resting Matuidi, Valbuena, etc. Maybe try Sagna instead of Debuchy.

resting six players according to radio.

Commentator just mentioned France doing well without Ribery. Every time I've seen him play he looks useless. I'm sure he can't be as he's an international and all that. But I wouldn't have him at Everton.

I want Switzerland to win, ergo I want France to win by two goals. It's not looking very likely.
One of the Ecuador players appears to be wearing a condom on his head.

If Switzerland win (even if only by 1 goal), and the France/Ecuador game remains a draw, then the Swiss go through anyway. France doesn't need to win; it only needs to draw. If the Swiss win, then Ecuador HAS to win if they want to advance.

Come on Ecuador - make that change

I posted that before I knew the Switzerland score against Honduras. I know France were going through anyway - this was just about Switzerland and Ecuador.

It is not a dull 0-0 at the moment. France are taking it easy and are still the better side but a bit of luck for Ecuador could change this.

One of the half-time pundits saying none of the French change players have made a bid for a start was right. Disjointed and sloppy at times

Yeah, he's had a good game.

And another great save!

To be honest, the whole team has played pretty well since they lost a player.
