Dual nationality - any tips or gotchas?

I've just got my dual nationality sorted and now have two passports (UK / Irish). Just wondering if there is anything I need to consider when travelling?

Is it best to carry both passports? I've seen visa applications/landing cards ask if your a dual national before for example - do they want to see both?

Appreciate that the combination of passports/countries will have their own effects.

if you declared one on the tickets it's best to show the same one. but if you are being held by terrorists show them the irish one

best to ensure you enter and leave the UK on the same one. It is always useful having a second UK passport for "business " justification if you can argue for it, but they get a bit arsey if you begin to swap them around and may get unwanted attention from HMG

Thats why I have an Irish passport!!! And I get to stay in the EU......
