I've been listening a lot to the LastFM drone tag and I have to say that it is the first time for years that I have been excited about music.

Some of the artists I have discovered are Earth, Grouper, Tim Hecker, William Basinski, Menace Ruine, Yellow Swans

Any other drone heads out there?

look up The Goslings... also on the more doom metal side of drone you need to hear "weedsmoker" (aka "jerusalem") by sleep, it is a 1 hour long song about smoking bongs.

On the "rock" side of drone, there's of course Loop, with this little number for starters:

Boris I think is quite drone. That album he did with Merzbow was pretty epic.

Tim Hecker is the legend of that list (imo) the show he did in Montreal in Feb with Colin Stetson still gives me goosebumps.
