Describe your 'political tradition' in one sentence

Leninism has had its day, social democratic parties are pretty bankrupt, women's movement and peace movement and anti-racist struggles left important legacies but no organisational expression, same likely true of anti-globalisation, occupy etc. What lies beyond? Good question. But we don't have an adequate blueprint to reach for

None of that really means anything though does it? You seem to be saying that what's gone before has failed (obviously, you only have to look around you to see that) and that we need something better but don't know what that something might be. It's obviously not wrong, few would likely disagree, but it's not really saying much either.

Shame cos the stuff about fragments sounded dead clever at first.

I'm really not sure why, after the events of the last hundred years, it's acceptable to call yourself a communist but not a fascist.

At least fascists don't have the cheek to suggest that the horrors their ideology brought forth were the result of a few innocent misunderstandings and a couple of bad eggs at the top of the food chain.

Oh look, it's a fuckwit.

I'm not sure why, given all the millions of people killed by liberal democracies and capitalists over the past century, it's acceptable to call yourself a liberal, a democrat or a capitalist either.

Are you serious?

And given the number of people killed by spooks and people called Frank I'm not sure why it's acceptable to call yourself frank, a spook or even worse spooky frank.

It's saying we need to rethink a lot of assumptions about left organising

Who knows?

It's just that when I hear 'communism' I think of authoritarian empires built on human bones. Maybe for others the word conjures up images of cups of tea and homemade jumpers but for me it always comes back to the bones.

I don't think that most communists think that it has anything to do with a few bad eggs at the top of the food chain.

I grew up in a socialist country and saw the absurdity; I was very glad when we became a capitalist country in 1991 but found out too soon that this wasn't really better. Voted for the Green party at last elections.

Im in favour of "radical left" ideals, but sometimes dont have the courage of my convictions and think that the best way forward would be through moderate leftist reforms of the capitalist system (which im told is a "social democratic" position...)

I can only make assumptions about what they think as I've never heard a communist actually try to justify the behaviour of their pals down the years.
Astonishing - you are forced to make up some bullshit because you've never heard the people who are supposed to have spouted the said bullshit actually spout the bullshit they are supposed to spout.
