Deleting multiple documents in windows 11

When i had Windows 8.1 it let you drag a line down at the side of all documents you want deleted , but Windows 11 is not letting me, and worse still, the delete option isn't even on the first page when you right click. Who on earth devised this daft system? The first menu page is full of shite you'll rarely need!

to select a range, click the first item then shift-click the last item
to select multiple items, ctrl-click each one

then press the delete key on the keyboard

Windows 11 - click and drag to select a bunch of files - right click - click on recycle bin icon to delete

the first part worked but now the delete option has disappeared
