Decent food in Calais?

Got to drive to Maastricht tomorrow for about an hours work.Be back at Calais at about 5ish hopefully with a few hours to kill until my 8 o clock crossing. Anywhere nice to Eat? No boozing cos I gotta drive but I'll be looking for some cheap plonk to bring back as well.Any recommendations ?

Ha! It is certainly the friendliest place to eat.

Calais is an utter fucking shithole crawling with CRS and racists. Seriously- tried really hard to find redeeming features for months and months. But it's a bit ugh.

There are loads of restaurants round the main square. All are fine, if they'll serve you. If you are black, brown or look in any way 'activisty' they are likely to refuse. Not directly- the kitchen will simply have closed.

The kebab shop a bit along and on the other side of the road from the family pub is good for a quick bite. And the metal pub a few doors down from the FP is enjoyable - prob not for the op since they are driving.
