Sausage to fortune
I work in a small specialist college. Lately the Principal of the college, has been holding regular meeting with the staff, to inform us about where the cuts in funding for HEI are going to affect us.
This morning we had such a meeting. At every opportunity the option he pushed was for the college to go private, run along the lines of Regent's College.
The reason for this is he says that even with charging students upto £9,000 a year, this will not generate enough income to create a surplus. Instead he suggested that going private would allow the college to break it's cap on intake, allow for expansion and even provide an incentive for staff a la John Lewis.
The question is how long would it take to go private? What changes would there be to my employment circumstances? Have any of you worked at a private college?
