I did suggest Hodgson last season; Croydon resident, Ruskin old boy, retired England manager. Radio 4 were saying earlier Hodgson was in the frame; I reckon he is much to old. Laughable.

I did suggest he was in the frame prior to fat same because of his experience, being a local boy etc. I feel a manager of a premier club should have lots of stamina and energy because it's a tough job, especially with our lot who seem like they need some drive and motivation.

Have to say, I'm feeling surprisingly buoyant. A few weeks ago I thought there might be a bit of a doomsday scenario brewing, with the American investors deciding to withhold cash for transfers and basically begin the process of cashing out. That would have been a calamity. It's now pretty clear that our transfer failings were not due to a lack of readies, but more a bi-product of the growing rift between manager and chairman. I'm a lot more comfortable with that.
Roy's an unspectacular appointment, but a steady hand. When you look at what he has achieved in club management it puts De Boers CV in the shade, so it's hard to argue we haven't quite effectively steadied the ship.
We have the first team to take on this league - Please, please, please play a midfield of Luka, RLC, and Cabaye!!! (in front of a back four, ta ). Our first team is more than capable when fit. I believe that if we stay reasonably healthy we'll be okay.

But with RLC pushed up and Luka back (Cabaye roaming). Bit of a lack of width, but Schlupp and Fosu-Mensah both very capable pushing forward on the overlap. Hennessey the only weak link really. That team is top half prem.
Shame of it is, only a handfull of similar quality subs (van Aanholt or Souaré for Schlupp, Tomkin for Dann, Wickham for Benteke).
