A familiar face who was especially adept at deadpan comedy, he also appeared on Broadway in “Same Time, Next Year,” wrote books and had his own talk show.

Loved him in Midnight Run, he was the best at looking harried by life. He had a pathetic countenance that made his characters so sympathetic, no matter how flawed they were.

I can remember an STV version of it years ago that dubbed over the swearing.

That’s so sad, he was brilliant in Midnight Run, his cameo in So I Married an Axe Murderer was cracking too.
