Help Can I play multi-player games on my Android TV using phones as controllers?

So, I've got an Android TV (Sony) and a lot of time on my hands. Is there any way we can use our phones as controllers to play games installed on the TV?

I tried Beach Buggy Racing as I saw an video showing off the video - but after I'd installed it on both phones and TV saw a post saying that the feature had been discontinued, FFS.

Oh and easy game recommendations please, if it possible!

Installed Badlands which uses the remote and is reasonably fun, but only one player...
