Cabo Verde

My Mum wants to go somewhere hot in January next year and I was wondering if Cabo Verde might be an idea?

She's not so mobile these days so is after a villa near a beach, maybe with a pool, where she can sunbathe and chill out. Seems like most islands have interesting hiking etc that we could do while my Mum sips cocktails and whatnot.

Other Winter sun destination recommendations gratefully received if this isn't a good idea. She doesn't like big hotel/all inclusive affairs though.

There are other threads about Cabo Verde, I know, but they're all a bit old.

Anyone been?

It's a while since we went there, maybe 2018. On the island we were on, (Boa Vista) there wasn't much else other than all inclusive big hotels, apart from a couple of backpacker type places in the main town. The main island may be better. I remember scouting around Praia on google maps to see if that would be better if we went back there.

As well as sun, check the winds. It was sunny, but very windy all the time we were there.

and it's Cabo Verde these days.

Thanks mx wcfc - have edited the title.

Yes I'm wondering if it's the sort of place my Mum will like. It looks a bit barren and windswept. She loved Thailand and Goa (so lush, tropical etc) but I'm not sure about this.

I went a year or two back. To Sal. I didn't leave my hotel, not much reason to. The island was pretty barren, but not in an interesting way. Weather was good. Sea was lovely, but a bit rough. Read lots of books. Had lots of naps. Not really my cup of tea, but perfectly pleasant.
