Burger Thread. Yes!

I Miss Dublin, I was quite fond of Johnny rockets when I lived there.
Eddie Rocket's.

Had a Burger King today and don't know why. They are always really messy/grubby and the staff are so apathetic. Also it was £10.04 for a Chicken Royale, medium fries/coke and a cheeseburger. The burgers were 'adequate' at best and the fries were just warm.

On the rare occasion that BK is located in the same services/station/airport as McDonald's I wonder how BK remain in business.

This might be why

Horrified McDonald's customers watch naked man inject drugs into his testicles

They have a bloody two tier pricing structure which annoys me and I won't pay the higher price out of principle, which means I rarely go as it's normally when I'm on the road I eat fast food. McDs dont do this, so If they can manage no need for BK to take the piss.

I did go to one in a town last month though and it was filthy. The food was decidedly average, which is a shame as done well they have a superior product offering. It just rarely is. I also end up waiting far longer on average, which is daft as I don't do custom orders there.

I used to hate McDonald's, but have become a convert over the years. You know what you are getting and they are very good with consistency no matter where I go. I just wish they did more epic burgers.

I've still not had a Five Guys. I got excited last week as it was my other halfs birthday and she suggested we go to the cinema, not something we've done in the three years together. She is totally not a fast food fan and doesn't eat beef. However the Trafford centre has a massive food court and I figured she could get the noodle dish she wanted and I could tuck into a decent burger. Imagine my disappointed when the place she wanted was a sit down type place. Of course it was her birthday and the sticky chicken wings were good, but still.

It is it wrong to plan another trip to the temple of consumerism just to eat burgers?

Five guys just opened in Croydon. It's alright but not worth the price tag even if you can add bacon to your milkshake?!

Brgr&beer is miles better

I liked the burger I had in five guys but they use peanut oil, which I can't stand, and the staff were a little bit oversincere for my liking.

It's a while back, so can't remember exactly, but felt like they were acting like their food was the best burger I've eat a bit too much.

And it probably is a good burger, but I keep hearing complaints about the cost of Five Guys.....like you can get a really incredible cheeseburger in Ireland in Wowburger, for just €5.95, as opposed to Five Guys for €9.45.

Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I had a much more delicious one from a local burger place called bread meats bread (www.breadmeatsbread.com) and it was cheaper than five guys. Also had fab chips.

wow that place even sells poutine! I've been on a poutine mission for a while now, but that's for another thread.

I have heard that Five Guys chips are plentiful (a regular portion being enough for two) and very good. I would still feel cheated spending around €16 on a cheeseburger, chips and milkshake though when I know I can get it for around €12 in Wowburger.

Ha. That would be epic dedication.

I was in a dodgy takeaway earlier as I was soaked and starving. For some reason I remembered what I used to love as a student. Double cheeseburger with that chicken donner meat. Greasy as hell but quite fancied one. Sadly they didn't have the chicken donner meat.

Just made some with brioche buns to celebrate my upper middle class status. Not bad, but couldn't really stand up to the smoked cheddar I slapped on them. Nicer than the pizza I was planning on having, anywayz...

Yesterday on a day in London I kept a promise made to kids and we went for lunch at Ed's Diner on Old Compton St. I did something I wouldn't normally do and I had a bacon-cheese burger with fries and onion rings. It was all amazingly delicious and I didn't feel hungry for the rest of the day.

So yes, big up Ed's. Great place. Never been there before in all my London years but I would absolutely go there again, if I found myself ever driven to eat a quarter pound of ground beef

Meat Shack which has won various street food awards over the years has opened it's own place in Brum, not a great pic of the burger i'm afraid, but it was fucking delicious.

No menu online, so I can't remember what I actually ordered!

Sweet potato burger at a pub last night. It was literally just two slices of sweet potato in a bun with lettuce and tomato.

It was ok because I like sweet potato but lacked a distinct amount of effort for the price.
