when i was doing a housing post grad course in 97, we were invited to brixton to tour an estate, i think it was angell town? about 20 of us were taken around the estate to show us the improvements that had been made...

Wasn't the slave trade long over by the time Henry Tate got involved in the sugar business?

tate became a partner in John Wright & Co. sugar refinery in 1859 and purchased the Langen patent on a method of making sugar cubes in 1872 so both facts are inaccurate to say the least

No one who came out of Liverpool in the mid nineteenth century is entirely free of the sugar trade's ties to indentured labour and ealier slavery, but as I've posted before, Henry Tate = slaveowner doesn't stand up

i went to the tate mansion once, in streatham, the tate family sold it in the 20s i think when he died, his will stipulated that it shouldn't be sold to a religious order.....

i went to visit my auntie, who is a nun

when they bought it, they went in disguise....didn't lie, just didn't mention the fact that they were a religious order

it's all luxury flats now i think, they sold it for a few million a few years ago...
