Bikes for Charity Project

Hi,

My name is Phil and I'm running a project called upCYCLE where we offer young people the opportunity of a safe and free way to travel during the Covid-19 pandemic. We currently take unused and second hand bikes and refurbish them before handing them on to charities that work with young people from ethnic minority groups. I'm planning on running a bike repair course for young people in Brixton and surrounding areas at The Remakery on Lilford Road starting in September. It will consist of 4 weekly workshops with participants learning basic bike repair skills such as fixing brakes or indexing gears and they get to keep the bike at the end. If you have an unused bike that you'd like to donate then please drop me a message on here and we can sort a collection/drop off.

This sounds like a great scheme. You might want to check with one of the Mods about this thread though as they take a dim view of unapproved advert posts anywhere but the Brixton forum. As I say sounds like a good thing. Sustrans did something similar near me about a month back? I gave them two old bikes.
