Biker Funeral

vauxhallmum

had to scrap the cheap car
Did anyone see that?
Hundreds of bikers hairing along Kennington Lane/ Harleyford Road?

Apparently on their way to a biker funeral. Some not even wearing their helmets, the naughty rebelz

Anyone know anymore? It was proper retro but also quite

Yep....Hells Angels member called "Charger" - funeral happened at Streatham Crem - there was about 2,500 bikers!!! We watched a constant stream of them go by for about 15 mins on Greyhound Lane.

is that what it was? Been trying to work it out, I was driving in the area along with them, coincidentally...

I bet that's the first time a biker funeral has had a Brazilian sea-goddess in the cortege, Iemanja.....

you couldn't tell it was a funeral though, and some of them had put tape over their number plates, to cover them up, which was

The look on my son's face was priceless, especially as I had to drag him out with me, he didn't want to go out!

asked b/f about that Gerry, and he said it was probably "Little Animal". Reckons he was Irish?

Sound like the same one?
I only ever knew him as Gerry (from people who bought car parts off him) but a lot of the locals called him the hobbit because he was quite hobbit-like. Sounds like it could be him.

Definitely the same one. Just asked b/f if Gerry was local (testing his memory) and he said he had a scrapyard down in Brixton. Maybe the locals knew him as the hobbit and his biker friends called him animal.

I didn't like him much either. He set fire to a load of tyres once and my flat filled with smoke.

I din't really know him, but saw him about every day.

I was going to correct the first emphasised word to haring, but in view of the later emphasised paragraph perhaps it is appropriate.

He must have been very well known to get a couple of thousand bikers to his funeral.

From another site:
The year is only at the start of its month, and I get "that phone call" again. This is the third friend I lost this year.
The man whos has just died was called Charger, he was a Hells Angel. He was the man who gave me my start as a roadie, he gave me my first crew jobs. We worked together on countless jobs all over London, from shitty corporate events to big festivals and every TV show thats got music on it.
He may have been in the Hells Angels, but dont believe everything you hear about them. He was always a gentleman. He was like a big cuddly bear around all my friends kids when he would come to our bar. I never heard him raise his voice once, even though when working the crew would need shouting at now and then. He always made sure that you knew he appreciated our hard work, made sure we all got paid on time, and that there was always beer at the end of a job.
Getting into that line of work is very hard, and I will never forget the chance he gave me.
Thanks for the memories, you are a legend
RIP Charger

I don't really like to hear people talk ill of the dead to be honest. The one exception to be Thatcher.

It was flagged up on the met site http://www.met.police.uk/events (a very useful site to keep an eye on) :hmm:

Road closures: Temporary holds on junctions to facilitate the cortege
Parking Suspensions

i was on the 59 coming down to brixton when they went past. jesus there were a lot of them.

'Road closures: Temporary holds on junctions to facilitate the cortege' - this seemed to mean one of them parking his bike across oncoming cars and glaring at them, so the others could carry on.

the main pack was being followed by a prim looking girl on a pink scooter. the busful of people burst out laughing when she went by.

The Belgian Hells Angels who stopped for petrol at the garage on Peckham High St looked like well ancient - I suppose you just cant get the young to eat dogshit or drink the piss of senior 'Colours" these days as part of the 'Prospect" process.

The Outlaws seem to ahead on kudos at the moment.....

Though some got nicked

PLus, they got better ordnance, well at least their Nordic chapters do....

NB the Bandidos and Outlaws have an anti-Angel pact

he wasnt a pissed stained out cast as you put it he meant alot to a lot of people just shows how narrow minded and self indulged people can be why speak ill of people you dont know nothing about
It was just a joke about parents calling a son 'Charger'... rather dry humour on these forums. No point getting upset at words on the internet tbh.

Sorry for your loss, I hope the funeral helped with the grief.

I watched the procession (which was headed by four motorbike cops who were directing the traffic) for about 15 minutes going up Brixton Hill. It was actually very moving so see so many people following and showing that level of respect. I saw jacket badges from Belgium, France, Berlin, Lithuania and some in cyrillic text so couldn't read those. Whatever you feel about how he chose to live his life he was obviously loved and respected.

I was confused too, Mrs. M. Then I saw chitter chatter. You and minnie seem to have transferred a conversation there to here...

Which guy? The guy with the nickname Charger or the scrapyard guy that people called Gerry/the hobbit?
...seems to be a bit of confusion here.

I think he's talking about Gerry who wasn't Gerry, but was actually called John. He wasn't Irish either, he was British. :hmm:
