What a weird case. So the cops raided the Cofidis hotel, found pills they thought were suspicious, ascertained that they belonged to Di Gregorio... and they turn out be vitamins. After he's lost his job and almost a year of his career.

Yep. The really strange part is the case was apparently based on phone taps going back to his time at Astana, and there were apparently arrests made in Marseille at the same time as Di Gregorio was lifted. All very bizarre.

Amstel is Sagan's isn't it? There are quite a few danger men to look at - EBH, JTL and Henao from Sky though I imagine the finish doesn't really suit the latter anymore. Plus the likes of Valverde, Gerrans, Gilbert and a few long shots who could get involved like Bardet, Voeckler and Moser.

Doesn't matter how good value anybody looks at the bookies I just can't see past Sagan. The only scenario I can see where he loses is if everybody refuses to work with him and the break is strong enough to stay away.

I had five of the top ten in my fantasy cycling team today, but not in my wildest dreams did I consider Kreuziger as even being a potential winner :D.

Break of the Day takes around 7 minutes on the peloton at Giro del Trentino. No idea how/why that happened, but the heads of state might actually have to make an effort to get that back.

I read the team manager gave the whole team a bollocking...and singled out Cavendish for not trying hard enough. Can't seem to find the piece now.

Oh. Last article I saw around Lefevere giving the the team a bollocking was after they fucked up the lead out at Scheldeprijs. Told them they could go ride for Willems-Verandas if they weren't going to ride for their team leader (Cavendish).

Backed Gilbert for the win and had trouble deciding between Moreno and Kwiatkowski to be placed (both were trading around the 25.00 mark for a top three last night). Guess who I stuck my money on... @ self.

Pozzovivo falls and injures his elbow. Shame for the wee man, but means AG2R will presumably be riding for Bouet for GC now. Not likely to happen, but I would laugh so fucking hard if he pulls it off.

Rolland for top 3 @ 18.00
Ulissi for top 3 @ 34.00
Kwiatkowski to win @ 70.00

Anyone who fancies a bet should note that I have chosen not to pick Nibali or Gerrans for my fantasy team which means one of them will probably win.

Oh well. At least Dan was in my fantasy team this time :D

edit: No he wasn't. Didn't confirm changes

Great to see Martin win that. He's maddeningly inconsistent, but enormously talented. With most of the old guard of hilly one day racers getting on a bit, we might see a great rivalry between him and three or four Colombians over the next few years.

Hesjedal looked incredibly strong too. Hopefully that means that there will be a good contest for the Giro.

After last week's boring amstel , I quite enjoyed that. Roubaix the standout of this years classics though, with honourable mention to m-Sr given drama of the day.

Predictons for Giro.

1 Wiggins
2 Hesjedal
3 Nibali

More importantly, Schleck only finished 6 secs behind Froome today. The big comeback starting here?

edit: Since we're doing Giro predictions

Wiggins, Nibali and Hesjedal in no particular order. Betancur for young riders jersey. Cav for points (I'm assuming he's riding?).

It's hard to look beyond the three you name for the Giro. Possibly Evans or even Scarponi as outsiders, but really, they haven't done much to suggest that they can win for a while. The real question is if either Nibali or Hesjedal can fuck Wiggins up on the climbs, because he's going to put significant time into them in the TT. For young rider, yes Betancur looks like the man. Maybe Kelderman or Majka or someone can put in a challenge.

Here's an interview with J. Vaughters about Dan Martin, by the way. It's pretty interesting about future plans and prospects: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/vaughters-on-martins-liege-win-and-anti-doping-stance.

Not very happy about Sky broadcasting Romandie. At any other time in cycling history, Sky taking an interest would be great, but I can't see them providing the hours and hours of coverage all season long that Eurosport will.

Bloody Froome. Thank Christ he's not going to be at the Giro. I haven't found Wiggins half as annoying this season since he hasn't been sitting on Froome's wheel all the time.

The Boy said:
Tour of Turkey just got Europecar-ed :D

And the Turkish guy who looks like someone but I can't put my finger on who. Eurosport guys seemed to be hinting that he may be doping.

Great race this one.

Rides for the same team as Gabrovski who put in one of the most ridiculous rides* on this same mountain. Plus he presumably won't be in the BP testing pool, so plausible.

*Pantanni-esque. Had to slow down for the motorbikes in front of him.

The Gabrovski ride was hilarious in a what the holy hell kind of way. Definitely a good thing he got popped, as it was pretty much an explicit two fingers to the doping authorities and the viewer.

Really nice to see Berhane's win. Second international win by a dude from East Africa in a month.

I don't think that Romain Bardet enjoyed his taste of 1998.

Not one bit :D. He rode a decent enough race all things considered though, and is coming along nicely this season too.

On the subject of Sky coverage, has anyone seen it? Feedback etc? I imagine it's just gonna be the same international feed that Eurosport use but with better graphics or something?
