Best Non-Dairy Milk?

Thanks for the Oatly Barista recommendation. This is now my fav thing in coffee. Tastes creamier than milk. I like it a lot.

I've tried one that's pretty good in tea now too. Alpro semi / Oatly semi or something semi. I can't remember. Would be alright on your cornflakes too I reckon. Still think I prefer cow milk for tea but I think I'm getting used to it. The fact that you can stick an unopened carton away in a cupboard for months on end is swinging it for me, quite apart from anything else.

In the interests of science, perhaps, I've ordered shitloads this week and I'll report back.

Oatly Barista Long Life, Jörd Organic Oat Drink, Alpro Oat Long Life and Alpro Barista Long Life.

I took a walk to my local Lidl today, having seen mentioned on this thread that their oat milk is good. I couldn't find anything, so I wonder if it's limited to their really big shops.

I'll have to stick to Oatly from the Coop.

Important update.

Having tried all these, Oatly Barista is still the nicest in your coffee, I reckon.

I'm drinking half the amount of cow's milk since discovering this. Still can't help thinking it doesn't quite taste right in tea but I much prefer it in coffee now.
I found a new one to me in Lidl the other day - minor figures barista oat. Bit cheaper than Oatly barista and pretty good. I don't buy it for the foaming properties though so I don't know how good it is at that. They also do an own brand barista one I found in the fridge. I didn't buy that one but I might give it a go later. I have loads of different ones to get through before that though.

Potato milk seems to be the new hype.
Any idea who's stocking it?

I was "forced" to get some almond milk the other day, as the Coop had run out of Oatly. Whilst my journey from dairy to oat had encompassed both soya and almond, it now strikes me as rubbish compared to oat. Too thick, especially when poured on cereal (it's only use in my house).

The make is DUG and the official website doesn't have stockists yet but you can buy it online.

Rude Health Barista is nice in your tea, I've just discovered. Sainsbury's ran out of Oatly so I got it as a substitute. Its pricey normally I think.

Firstly please let me apologise for the superfluous apostrophe.

Is there any kind of problem with getting oat milk to the shops? I went to two Coops today (I'm surrounded by them) and neither had any - I was forced to get soya instead. I saw the head of some big dairy company saying they were short of drivers due to Covid and Brexit, so I wondered if it affected Oatly too.

I've started drinking this. Not a milk substitute, as it's a drink in its own right, but super tasty, and a good replacement for the fizzy drinks I'm trying to wean myself off.

I think there are a few supply issues at the moment. I had all my Oatly substituted on my Sainsbury's order this week. Loads of other stuff subbed too, mainly fresh fruit/veg. Tescos had empty fruit and veg shelves when my other half went shopping last week too.

We wondered if it was just due to a particularly big tourist influx in Cornwall this season but it's happening elsewhere too I think.

Apparently it uses even less resources than oat, so I'm interested!

I'm still a big fan of Oatly Semi for cereals and Sainsbury's own brand oat for tea.
I really like Oato's oat milk. Really good in tea and coffee, creamy to my tastebuds.

Oato – Fresh Oat Drink, Delivered

They deliver it in glass bottles like when I was a kid. I buy too little of it so get mine in a local veg co-op place - but you have to be quick - sells out v.quick on arrival.
They've even started providing this as the non-dairy alternative at work over the crappy little soya plastic cartons they used to hand out to anyone daring to say they were not a fan of the udder. A step forward I think.

Tried Alpro Roasted Almond - sour and salty, tastes like it has lemon juice and salt in it. Might be good for some things but not a milk substitute.

One of the annoyances of oat milk is that the cartons seem to be a maximum of 1 litre, meaning quite a lot going into my recycling bin. However I did find this guide to oat milk refill stations around the country. None are near me, which is a shame, but if you're in London, Brighton or Bristol you're laughing.

Parts of London, I'm in London but it would be around 40 minutes each way on public transport to any of those locations - not really feasible :D
