Anyway, in case anyone hadn't seen other thread with missing Olympic rings, I got an email from Tower Bridge saying that the rings go up at least 20 minutes before a boat's coming through. They were definitely up much longer than 20 minutes when I saw them the other day

That's the trouble, you need to be in the right place at the right time and be able to use the camera (eg battery working, film in it, the right lens, zoom not jammed etc) you've got with you. I could weep at the thought of all the shots which got away.
