Another dumb Oyster question

I’ve got a monthly travelcard. I bought it on 9th so it runs 9th – 9th of every month. If I pay for it on the 1st will it adjust itself to actually start from the 9th or will I overlap and be paying twice for 9 days?

I've only once ever put a period travelcard on my Oyster card, but I'm pretty certain it asked me what day I wanted it to start, rather than starting it the moment I did it online.

My experiences is they ask for start dates on the machines in the station.

I feel confident that they have accounted for people doing this in their system, and that if they didn't they would have corrected that error quite early on.

I want to renew and pay for my travelcard online. In the set-up it asks for the ‘start date’. If I want it to start on the 1st (for reasons of neatness of my financial accounting) will it overlap?
