Advice on re-potting a Dragon Tree (dracaena marginata)

I'm surprised mine is still alive, it's needed repotting for years.

So from what I can tell it needs to be in a plastic pot as they don't like the way terracotta holds water.

It probably needs grit and bark chips in the soil to aid drainage but other than that I'm struggling to find concensus and also wording/terminology that's UK specific so not sure what soil to buy.

Anyone have any advice?

"Reporting" had me confused.

I've had four over the years - had to rehome two after they outgrew the space I could keep them in.

I keep them in terracotta pots with aquarium gravel at the bottom and a bit around the sides, a saucer to collect excess water, and more gravel on the surface. The surface gravel is mainly because squirrels kept coming to the windows and burying stuff in the pots, but it also means you pour less water in. I think one needs repotting soon actually - only takes a couple of years.

Did you use specialist soil or just generic house plant compost?

Normal houseplant potting soil, but actually for the last plant I've remembered I did mix in a bit (like a handful or two) of potting grit when I repotted it - do that with most of my houseplants.
