Oi Oi - we're trying to get anything useful (photos mainly) off a deceased relatives Win10 PC that is password protected.

What's the method du jour these days? In the past I would have trawled distrowatch for something that I could boot from a CD and access the photos and docs folders that way.

I no longer have a machine that can play CDs never mind burn one.

What's the 'recovery' go to software these days?

Get a linux distro and boot from usb. Anything will do but I like Mint.

Oi Oi - is there any way I can make a Windows bootable USB stick from an M1 Mac?

We haven't found my old CDs or any USB sticks with Linux live distros on them - they have probably been binned/reused.
