do those tubes of tomato puree go off? I don't even bother refrigerating them and there's often months between squeezes. cf. Mustard, ketchup, most pickles - you aren't supposed to use it all at once, it keeps for ages

Ok, I accept I might be a bit quick to throw sauces etc away but I totally get the fear about being poorly.

I think I’ll keep buying the chippy mayo sachets as I definitely don’t want that hanging around and will buy the smallest jar I can of everything else.
 
One reason I dislike buying shop Mayo is because it's so chemically preserved it's basically immune to mould or decay and lasts forever. When really old it just seems to dry out and sometimes separate. Which makes me wonder what happens when I eat the stuff 😕
