50 days to the ASHES

Shit is not quite right, overrated certainly. Very good limited overs bowler too, not that I'm particularly bothered about that stuff.

I see Mark Waugh is stoking the fires already, "Anderson not mentally strong, Broad a good honest trundler, Swan is just a bowler" etc.

Lol.

He's club class, but not test class. You can mix it up a bit and do a few tricks and do well in limited overs. But in a test match a lack of consistency and talent get shown up.

Heh. If they open the bowling with Blee I'll be happy, off to a flyer lads.

Stuey Clark and Mitch Johnson will be the bowlers to watch this summer from an Aus perspective, not overly impressed with the rest although not seen a great deal tbf.

Flintoff
Broad
Anderson
Onions/Sidebottom
Swan/Panesar

..looks a decent and balanced line-up to me. Fred aside from being a good bowler also creates wickets for others by building pressure, Jimmy looks World Class now, Broad getting better all the time, Swan/Monty are decent spinners; question marks over Ryan/Onions but with a five-pronged attack you can hide a bowler if need be.

*positive hat on*

Just hope Flintoff is fit and on form. Broad and Anderson also - as that means we can afford to bring in two spinners and Onions.

310 wickets at an average of 30.8, strike rate 53, over four wickets per match.

This is not shit. It is a consistently good performance over a long period. Lee would walk into the England team.

Broad's batting could be as important as Giles' was in '05 too.

Don't really know why I'm so positive, possibly because Warne and McGrath are gone, also I'm getting excited and don't want to piss on our hopes yet.

Realistically we're not favourites, I'll leave it at that for now.

If Anderson turns up, Broad kicks on and Bopara gets a little luck early on, England are in with a real shout, I think. I suspect Flintoff will not feature in all the matches, but they stand a chance even without him.

I'm hoping that Anderson will, at least once, run right through the Aussie batting.

I just hope the team are doing the kind of homework against the aussie batsmen that they did in 05. We had a plan for each one of them, and usually bowled to that plan.

i think that Johnson and Siddle will open our bowling with Stu next.Lee or Hauritz(depending on pitch) with Katich for a bit of variety.
