yeah people keep saying that :) (a few tracks from there in the rundown). I will up it again soon and let you know!

I love your selection.

This was one of my fave tunes of the period

because it was reflective and maybe it admitted something. Jah Cure was imprisoned for rape and, while there was a great outcry from his fellow artistes over his sentencing, it was always more than likely he had done it. The woman he raped has come to terms with it now. He's done his time now so his slate is clean.

Great, I will have a listen to those tmrw.

Looking at your site, I clicked through to the Aba Shanti interivew, which reminded me how much I used to love the Aba Shanti website many years ago and just checked it.

One word - awesome - it is like the website is stuck in a 1990's HTML time warp  who can not like old school reggae websites which also give a concise history of electronic communications and bigs up Nikola Tesla.

see two of my favourites right there at a glance (education is the key to betterment - Never Go Where Pagans Go was a big Warrior King tune too - and by his deeds - love that one) - looking forward to flicking through these. Nice to see the Diwali riddim - what a huge cross over tune this was - absolutely everywhere (Wayne Marshall version) - should have been annoying but wasnt. may have to waste tomorrow evening posting my top 20! thanks FB

*taking this opportunity to ask whats happened to ringo? ringo keep posting your mixes please!

Proof that reggae went downhill post 1986.

Lenky – Diwali riddim..TUNE
Tanya Stephens – It’s a Pity ..BIG TUNE lots of good vers on this riddim
Bitty McLean - Walk Away is a new one to me but nice to see a Treasure Isle revival
Nice selection of conscious artists dunno if there should be a best dancehall of the naughties thread hhmm, my contender for most ridiculous tune..is

Another example that how in the entertainment industry it is ok for someone to be a rapist, to beat up his g/f or to kiddy fiddle and double standards always apply.

The Jah Cure thing always fascinated me, not because of what he did, but peoples reaction to it.

Here goes for mine:

Have to start with two Beres - he had a ton of big tunes over the decade(Rockaway, Falling In Love All Over Again, Come Down Father) plus lots more, but these two are so sweet:

Beres Hammond & Flourgon -Feel Like

Beres Hammond - There For You

Was doing van driving for a few years earlier in the decade and this was the anthem on the radio i most associate with that time. have to have some love songs in your life! Got married soon after hearing this :-D much loved by many people out there.

Morgan Heritage - Liberation

woooooy chant woy

Warrior King - Education is Key
Thank you Lewisham Library for this one!

collie buddz - come around

happy memories of hearing this smashing it at that Clissold Park festy, sun blazing

Richie Spice - Youths are so cold
anything to fill that gap - chant along favourite

Baby Cham - Ghetto Story

when me and mama bed was a big piece a foam - lyrics - is it just me or is there a lot of emotion in the vocal on this - not obvious at first maybe - rings of authenticity

Ding Dong- Badman Forward Badman Pull UP
was the famous version, and is a great party tune, but the one I loved is
Elephant Man - Badman Forward Badman Pull UP

which has brightened up many a day for me - one I turn to for a pick me up

A couple of smokers tunes:
Richie Spice - Marijuana (Pon De Corner)

&
Marlon Asher - Ganja Farmer

sticky bud business! (segue)

Jah Cure - Sticky

Yeah, dont get me wrong, not about to invite JC round for dinner, but this tune's definitely sticky (ye ye ye ye)

sizzla feat capleton-jah jah city

Big tune - nuff said

Alborosie - Kingston Town
A friend kindly bought this on a 7 for me - nice to give gifts for no reason - got a soft spot for it forever as a result.

damien marley welcome to jamrock - overplayed? yep. but cant not have it on the list really

On the Corner - Ragga lox

Got to hear this as a result of a Tangerinedream ID thread - feels right to put it in. love it too

Capleton - I see them Quaking

This one wasnt on youtube so had to put that right! CApleton on form is unstoppable! Do not mix this tune with special brew  BIG

Bushman - Nyah Man chant
This one was a creeper on me, but got me in the end! a personal favourite, if no one else

Afrikan Simba - Patience

Here's one that gets countless rewinds in my living room! The crowd (me) go made for it! Pull it pull it pull it! Love this. Not sure the year, but only came across it recently and it sounds new enough so it counts

Tune of the decade for me has to be:
VC - By His deeds

unique sound and great lyrics - sounded like nothing else and still sounds completely fresh
impress a likkle easy girl with your pretty car :) for a giggle check this drunken karaoke of his deeds:

EDIT: Actually - tbh - tune of the decade for me has to be Beres Hammond - There For You - im soft like that

I do wish people wouldn't lump all Jamaican music as Reggae. Reggae is quite a narrow genre.
