A celebration of Feminism - as a female what has it meant for you?

May is good example of Liberal Feminism. I'm sure she really believes that part of her legacy is furthering the women's rights. She as Home Secretary along with Amber Rudd presided over a racist immigration policy. Rudd appeared to think that she was unaware of this. This is the limitation of...

A celebration of Feminism - as a female what has it meant for you?

...she lost a whole section of her Feminist friends as she had chosen a relationship with a man. They were from the Radical feminist section of Feminism. Didn't put her off Feminism. but it was very hurtful for her. She still had feminist friends who didn't treat her in that way. I still have...

Feminism- experiences of man-whispering and the refusal to do so...

Only if you either can't read, or - as here.. quite deliberately seek to missinterpret what someone says. Feminism isn't responsible for a backlash against Feminism or a siege mentality with Masculinity, toxic or not, but it is responsible for a poor choice of language that either mystifies...

Men supporting feminisms & feminists - ideological & intellectual pitfalls?

Well feminism is feminism yes but we can all disagree about what is or isn't feminist, and many feminists do disagree with each other on lots and lots of issues - so it's not at all clear what feminism is. I'd be really interested in hearing what transpeople think about feminism too.

A celebration of Feminism - as a female what has it meant for you?

On this very thread. Go back to where you asked my what about feminism I celebrated. You'll have received an alert about it at the time and another when I asked you to comment on it in August.

Congratulations on being the first (and only) woman to post on this page.

Feminism - where are the threads?

We've all been talking about other aspects of feminism for weeks, while she was away from the boards. Honestly it's like some of us have been reading a different thread.

Feminism - where are the threads?

Oh please. We're allowed more than one thread on feminism. And frankly, 'ghettoising' the subject to an area where men rarely go is a good thing. We're all really tired of having to explain ourselves. Fwiw I never go on that thread, but so what, there's plenty of others (now!) I can get...

A celebration of Feminism - as a female what has it meant for you?

...for trying that trick on me just now then? Ok. Also I don't think you should be speaking for most women of Urban tbh. IME we/they are perfectly capable of speaking for ourselves. You didn't answer my question about actually posting in celebration of feminism either. A simple no would've done.

    Is this woman a transphobe?

I do think my mistrust of men is proportionate, yes. I also don’t believe men become women because they feel like women or identify as a woman. I think being a woman is a complex interaction between genetics, physiology, society and social relations, not something you can identify into or out...

Feminism - where are the threads?

...seemed to stall right about the time the marketing gurus convinced the world that the Spice Girls somehow represented the epitome of feminism. I would say that was the moment capitalism really worked out how to monetise feminism directly, rather than just hijack it as a way to double the...

Feminism - where are the threads?

Sorry, Kabbes, but you're making me feel like a right thicko. I do feminism by being a woman who tries to fight for her rights, where I can. An academic article that's aimed at other sociologists and not phrased in a way that outsiders are expected to understand is more interesting for...

Feminism - where are the threads?

New topic on this thread - why are women scared of feminism that centres females? Why is it almost taboo? This is based on the posts of the last few hours and is not open to men or men who identify as women (sorry) to comment on. And it's also not a question asking why those who are not female...

Feminism - where are the threads?

You said that feminism has nothing to do with men unless they are the perpetrators of violence. He said Really? What about inequality in the workplace and in the home? Surely feminism and men have something to do with that? Inequality is a relationship between men and women. You said, I don't...

Feminism - where are the threads?

This is how every thread about feminism ends, with a man kicking off because we're not talking about men with sufficient reverence.

Feminism - where are the threads?

It's a shame this has happened because this was a good thread. It's a good question where the feminism threads are. I did try to start a feminism thread a little while ago but it was closed down which nobody commented on at the time. I do think there was a problem with the most feminism...

Feminism - where are the threads?

Only insofar as it encroaches on the rights of the oppressed class of female. But this thread, nor I am certain, is this forum a place where intellectual conversation on the matter can be had. So we'll get back to talking about feminism that is for females over here thanks
