I quite like the Mansplaining Feminism podcast:
https://mansplainingfeminism.com/
It's two self-deprecating English (Anglo-Indian maybe?) guys working through the key texts of feminism. The reasonably standard format is that one of them knows a decent amount about the subject and the other guy...
...positively and making the other guy think about why he could be reacting like that to a perfectly sensible suggestion)
The same way feminism now is not (if ever has been) about 'You can't hold a door open/give a seat up for a woman you patronising bastard!' - TBH I think that concept was...
https://gal-dem.com/reclaim-the-nights-girl-boss-feminism-sisters-uncut/
This is a bit harsh imo. If it's right and RTS did refuse requests from Sisters Uncut I'm not surprised. Labour right Cllrs are good at excluding others who aren't politically reliable by simply ignoring them.
It's a bit...
...their thoughts!) could explicitly define the terms?
What does being 'gender critical in a political sense' mean?
What is 'gender critical feminism'?
And if I'm a feminist who's critical of gender is that different/perceived to be different than being a gender-critical feminist? (Sorry if...
...psycho bully to many of his actors and crew apparently.
Considering he was seen as an inspiring male role model for gender equality and feminism (justifiably so at the time as well), he became an odious bullying monster to Charisma Carpenter when she became pregnant and naturally would be...
Think you could also make quite a strong case that the neoliberal phase post 1970s further undermined 'traditional' values through marketisation of everything, weakening of family ties through collapse of tradtional industry, etc etc - and that would also likely be a much more robust...
...the thread stands, it's basically a massive majority of men posting about mtf trans, pretty much zero about ftm. And women who don't agree with gender identity theory now discuss this topic on U75 via private forums - you might want to have a think about whether that's a great victory for...
Assembling miniature plastic fighter planes would seem to be a natural progression from painting buses on wooden boxes, and one for which, given the fiddly complexity of the kits, one would imagine an expert feeling no shame if asked to mentor our Prime Minister.
...hitting their wife to keep her in line was perfectly normal behaviour and it wasn't generally considered a crime by the police. That changed, partly because of feminism, but also partly I think because of working class women drilling it into their sons that this was not acceptable and had to...
...bombed what to do or how to do it. It's about being able to look at think about wars in other places - without being participants. I don't think that's comparable to men talking about feminism, but certainly get the concern you raise!
So, yeah, as you say it's about trying to understand stuff.
...lesbians then that Spectator gig would probably dry up pretty quickly. But also because many of the key tenets of second wave radical feminism are in direct opposition to Gender Critical ideology and they'd rather not remind people that Dworkin called for the end of the sex distinction...
...if you want to say that trans rights are a good way for the left to alienate the working class and an opening for culture warriors on the right, can you please just say so and stop with the hiding behind gender critical feminism.
(Of course we have had all these arguments before wrt gay rights.)
...Left did in the 1960s and 1970s to help found the neoconservative movement. Figures like Wolf continue to claim the mantle of liberalism and feminism even as they align with Bannon and Trump and claim that their peers are the ones who have betrayed those commitments; they present their...
Well why dont you try listening properly to the left wing feminists that understand all too well, and oppose, the highly specific branch of feminism that people like me are actually referring to. Its very specific indeed.
I think you're correct that many people understand a distinction between both 'woman-ness' and feminity, and 'man-ness' and masculinity, but it does leave the question unanswered of what defines a woman as a woman and so on.
Are you saying that there is a set of culturally-understood traits...
