Feminism - where are the threads?

I would hope, as a husband, and father of a boy and a girl, feminism would be something I'd be interested and involved in.

Feminism - where are the threads?

...male and female gender roles are to a pretty significant extent (even today), biologically determined. (Not every woman, not every man. But as generalisations over time and space). I was interested to discuss this and how it fits in or doesn’t with modern feminism. I just wanna think about it.

A celebration of Feminism - as a female what has it meant for you?

I get what you're saying, kebabking, and I think you're talking about liberal feminism or white feminism. The drive for women to be brought level with their counterparts in the current social order, ie white middle class women achieving parity with white middle class men. As opposed to inclusive...

Mary Wollstonecraft memorial statue provokes mixed reaction

Accidental challenge accidentally accepted/issued My ongoing quest/immediate response since I first saw The Statue has been coaxing a metal version/translation of the ideas and shapes behind this into existence. Then sticking it in a bonfire til it glows red hot, possibly with magnesium...

I posted this on the Works of Feminism thread. The difference between Liberal Feminsim and Socialist Feminism.. Is this what you mean? "Back in 70s early 80s it was. Socialst Feminists of that time did deal with some of these issues as part of feminism. Socialization of childcare was one...

Feminism - where are the threads?

OK Pickman's model it's not just my feminism, it's what is called feminism. And feminism is basically the want of women to be recognised as human. So that groper in the office or that rapist. Is that something that is peculiar to women? You'll now NAMALT me and also tell me about you or a friend...

Feminism - where are the threads?

this has been playing on my mind today I don't think feminism is that at all, it's a very peculiar form of feminism you practice if it's nothing to do with men unless they're rapists or gropers. Doesn't your feminism have anything to say about equality in the workplace or home?

...many of the same tropes as open transphobia did, but now intellectualised and laundered by what's actually quite a conservative strand of feminism - it's a fetish, they're not safe round children, it's a mental illness, they're confused homosexuals etc. And this activates many more latent...

Several people shot dead in Plymouth 12 August 2021

Agree with the bits on incels and final paragraph. As you say though it's two sides of the trump coin. A celebration of Feminism - as a female what has it meant for you?

My interpretation of feminism is that it is the acknowledgement that women are humans. If that manifests itself on this thread as a celebration of sisterhood that's fine by me. I would like to hear how you celebrate feminism and how it has shaped you :)
