Self-Imposed Temporary Bans

With more and more posters asking for 'temp bans' we're going to have to change the way we deal with these requests because it's becoming a massive pain in the arse for mods - especially when posters keep changing their minds!

Sorting out every 'self ban' for users involves a fair bit of faffing about for the mods, and it's not a service we feel that we can keep offering any more, so instead users are going to have to do their bit too.

So here's how it will work from now: users will have to effectively ban themselves by mashing up their passwords and use the password reset when they want to come back.

Here's how to do it:
  1. Ensure that your email address registered on the boards is correct and current. If you update it, make sure you confirm the change when the boards email you.
  2. Type a load of gibberish in notepad/simple text or whatever
  3. Select the text, right click and select 'cut'
  4. Go into your urban profile -> settings and find the 'change password'
  5. Paste in the text into the two new passwords boxes and press save
  6. You are effectively self banned!
When you went to get back on the boards, you need to request a password reset when you try and log in again. If you have access to the mail address you have registered on the boards, this should only take a matter of minutes.

If you have forgotten or lost access to your registered email, then you will have to email boards@urban75.com with your user name and new email address. This forwards to Lazy Llama who has kindly agreed to take on this dull job.

At his earliest convenience (i.e not immediately), he will then send you a new password and you will then be able to get back on the boards.
