I did do a search but apologies if this has already been done.

Another Urb mentioned this place on facebook.
Can't go tonight as dinner is in the oven already.
Has anyone been?
What are thoughts?

We are often asked the meaning of our name. ‘Ty’ is a word derived from the Brittany (Breton) region of France, which**translates as ‘house’ or ‘home’. The whole art of crêpes, as we know it, hails from Brittany.*We aim to bring that traditional flavour straight to*South London*in the most authentic way possible.
It's actually Welsh for 'house' so I hope they're going to have Welsh cakes on the menu, accompanied by lashings of Brains Beer, Felinfoel ales and jaunty Cardiff City drinking songs.

You're all Celts so there might be some common things in language. On the other hand it could have been a Norman thing dating from the 10th century or whenever it was they plodded through Wales.

The Normans didn't last very long!
Initially (1067–1081), the invasion of Wales was not undertaken with the fervor and intentionality of the invasion of England. However, a much stronger Norman invasion began in 1081 and by 1094 most of Wales was under the control of William's eldest son, King William II of England. The Welsh greatly disliked the "gratuitously cruel" Normans and by 1101 had regained control of the greater part of their country under the long reign of King Gruffydd ap Cynan, who had been imprisoned by the Normans for twelve years before his escape.

The West coasts of Spain (eg Galicia), France and our own fair isles (Wales/Isle of Man) all have versions on the same language/dialect..

"The Galicians are Celts, first cousins to the Irish, Welsh, Scots, Cornish and Bretons and used to speak a language of the same family... They have many ancient customs in common with the Irish (their music sounds Irish too!) and the same laws of inheritance"

There are quite a few similarities between Breton and Welsh I believe (no idea why I'm on this thread as I'm never going to go there :D)

I posted this on another thread last week:

Popped into Ty Crepe on Brixton Hill today. It's still pretty quiet but I hope it picks up as it was really nice. They have a great selection of French beer and cider and the crepes were delicious - we had 2 sweet ones and they were really good without being too sweet. One was a boozy and it tasted proper. We sat on comfy sofas and the staff were pleasant and the service quick. They also have highchairs.

Can you give an example of the savoury crepes and prices as their website isn't up to explaining that kind of minor detail?

I really can't remember only that they had a good selection. I can't even remember prices as that was 2 weeks ago and I didn't pay.

I think it's quite a USP that they have a really good range of French beer and a couple of good ciders as I don't know anywhere else locally that sell these.

they do an £8.75 meal deal, one savoury and one sweet. I think savoury was about £6 individually.

I had a Mex, which was chilli beef. Friend had chicken and spinach and something.

Will have to pop in for tea one night.
Half the reason I asked on here is because the website seemed half finished.
Thanks for the input guys. Welsh and otherwise ;)

£8.75 for a savoury and sweet doesn't sound too bad!

From scrumpled receipt in my pocket.

Forestiere: Gammon, egg, mushrooms, and more 5.45
Chevre: Stinky cheese 5.45
Coke: 1.35
White coffee: 1.45

Very tasty, decent portion, really friendly lady waiting our table, bit slow given we were one of two occupied tables and the other table had already been served when we ordered. Open for breakfast on Sundays.

Will definitely go again.

Mmm. Went this afternoon. Took an age to get our food but I don't think that can be normal (they'd close! it was about 45 minutes and there were only about 4 other tables there) and it was the best pancake I've ever had. Really special. We tried the lemon and sugar, and the chocolate and pear with whipped cream. Definitely going back - would be a great place for a relaxed meet-up or morning-after session with friends.

Can't really see the point in pancakes, sorry, crepes. Doesn't strike me as ideal takeaway food and not sure if they even do that anyway.

I had a menu for months. Only chucked it away the other day. Why not just pop in there and get one?

We went last night. I mostly wanted to have the French cider tbh but sadly they had run out. They assured us they were getting it back though. Also - just two veggy options on the menu, although I suspect they would adapt the other combinations since they're obviously freshly made. Both of us felt our pancakes were underseasoned but obv you can add salt and pepper after. The service was fantastic and there's a nice atmosphere there. Also it's decent value. We'll go back.. when they get the cider back.

Comments here changed my mind. Not good to be set in your ways;)

Also I've done at least three laps of the menus in Negril and the Chinese.

I went there before Xmas - really liked it - very friendly and delicious pancakes, all three of us loved ours. Deffo going again.

Ms Grit visited with a friend over the weekend, general feelings were the service is shit but the food is decent.
