anyone living in or recently been to barca who knows any good places to go. bars, clubs, places, i'll take em' all....

ask geri, she has been a couple of times in the last year or so. have you searched old threads because there ahve been a couple in the last 6 months.

For something a bit different take the train from Placa de Espana to Monserrat and visit the monastary built into the side of a mountain. Takes about 45 minutes on the train, then cable car up to the top. Costs about £5 to get there. There's a retaurant up there and a funicular that goes all the way to top that gives you some of the most amazing panormamas anywhere in spain.

Parc Guell is def. worth a visit but go early if you want to avoid the tourists. It's the half-finished Gaudi housing estate that only has 1 house in it! It's the famous for the Gecko fountain.

Any bar is a good bar in Barca - not much point getting there until about 11.30 because that's when people go out.

Word of warning: Las Ramblas is getting pretty rough now, particularly the back streets around Le Gothique...lots of muggings by gangs of algerian kids so never takek your passport out with you unless you really need it and keep a tighty grip on any cameras.

Last time I was there - about 4 months ago, polic had closed a few streets round there to try and stop them after some guys had been stabbed by muggers.

thanx g-force

i did do a search "barcelona" in urban75.com but only protest stuff came up. and the only protest i'm making this time is against the health of my liver...

I can only remember the names of a couple of the bars I went to.

Cafe de L'Opera on La Rambla is cool:

and Bar London which is on Nou de La Rambla:

This was opposite the place I stayed in with my friend and was very handy, although as I recall it was only open towards the end of the week.

Haven't been to any clubs so can't help there.

Loads of places worth seeing - Parc Guell of course (great view from the top of the hill) and La Sagrada Familia (Gaudi's church).

Gothic quarter is great for shopping and also has a nice cathedral with geese inside.

Port Vell is good - and the aquarium rocks!

Get a cable car up to the fort at Montjuic.

Visit the Nou Camp if you like football.

There is so much to do...you will never get bored, I've been twice and I still haven't seen everything I want to see there.

I went to a cracking club there called the Nitzerclub. Don't know if it still exists etc. Got some top-rate pills in there too...

Club Nitsa is still there; we were there last month during the Sonar festival. La Terrazza is another good one, but I heard that was shutting down. Moog club is another good one, and there's The Loft as well.
