Just watched the new Tron Legacy in 3D

Wookey

Muppet is not a slur
I've been at a screening today of the new Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie with Jake Gyllenhaal - lots of sand, a high-protein Jake and some fairly stunning special effects. It will be huge. We had a nice talk from the director too, who was a character and a half, he couldn't remember what 'those glasses films..." were. (He meant 3D...!)

Anyway, as part of the event they showed us the early creatives from Tron Legacy, due for a Christmas release - it looked fucking incredible! The person I went with hadn't seen the 1982 version, and she was blown away by the concept - the bikes are there, the neon lines and the suits (with some tweaks) and Jeff Bridges is back playing Kevin Flynn. And it's all in 3D!

The riders actually meld into the bikes this time round, so they are part human part bike, with strange holographic faces on their visors...

But get this, my fave part - the soundtrack is by Daft Punk!! And they appear in the film as a pair of superstar DJs! (That alone is enough for my money...)

Also saw 20 mins of the new Toy Story 3 in 3D, which looks brilliant, and a large chunk of The Sorcerer's Apprentice, which was funnier than you might expect, and has Nick Cage in something other than a romantic lead, which means I can watch him without laughing.

The Tron marketing machine will be huge though; they're talking theme park rides, TV versions, graphic novels, MMOG, video games - it will be the aesthetic of early 2011.

Brought to you by your favourite film spy!
:cool::D

I didn't watch it from start to finish because the film hasn't been completed yet, I thought anyone with a scant knowledge of movie production would have known that?

so you post a thread title saying you've seen the film, when in fact you haven't actually seen the film, because it's not even been finished yet?

btw, there's already a topic on the film.

It was a great preview though, nobody else in the world has seen anything of it yet outside the production itself. I thought that worthy of putting in the thread title, although you are quite right, I should have put "Just watched large sections of the Tron Legacy in 3D which contains some scenes and incidental music which will not make it into the final version."

:)

Great, thanks for the heads up, and thanks for your contribution to my thread.

no problem. maybe a helpful passing mod could merge the threads?

"OMG TRON Preview Wooooot!!!!111" would have been a more accurate title.

it sounds like you have an abysmal taste in films, wookey. that prince of persia film sounds well shit.

It's my job, I wouldn't pay to see it.

That said, Jake is fucking shaggable in the extreme, and my taste in men is superlative.

Hummm, this gives me no more information than I got from the trailer that has been around for yonks.
Hardly 'just watched the new tron legacy film'.

I went to Disney in Florida back in January. On the MGM Studios backlot tour just as drive into the props warehouse there was a small poster saying TRON 3D December 2010 with a ppicture of some blue neon streaks. If you had blink you'd have missed it. Didn't see any sign of it anywhere else, nobody talking about it.

It aint a remake. It's taking a daft kids film and making a sequel that the schoolyard nerds who saw the first one will still enjoy as fat noodle eating 30 somethings.

Them too. As a fat noodle eating 30something ex schoolyard nerd my nostalgic urges (which I dislike at the best of times) are utterly over pandered to. Not that I was ever vastly keen on tron anyway but I actually like things to progress a bit. It's a whole subgenre of unimaginative cock. I demand that Hollywood ignore my demographic.
