There was no demo that day at all although it is clear that ISM including Ms. Corrie believed there was. Reportedly she was "investigating" a local well near Rafi Yam, a then Israeli "Settlement." It was used by Arab snipers to fire and injure Jews and the IDF had taken down part of the walls surrounding it, not damging the well but that is not the point with ISM. She and her "comrades" got a call and were hurrredly told by a fellow Activist (by mobile) that IDF D9s were trucking in (actually they do not need to be transported since the FOB was only a few hundred meters from the lot in question) and they assumed what they assumed. The dozers were stopped near an empty weed filled lot behind the home of an Arab pharmacist (Samir Nasrallah) and this led ISM to believe the man, quite active himself actually, was going to lose his home.
The actual orders? To doze the weeds since there had been more than a couple of recent tunnels in and out of the weedchoked lot.The lot sat roughly 800 meters from the Egyptian border (In Hai a Salam in Rafah, Gazan side). We obviosuly had been doing alot of clearing of such lots at that time, in the vicinity and ISM had befriended Nasrallah and his family. Obviously they took the IDF presence as some sort of personal challenge or affront, as if protecting a friend. Their mistake (or better put, ignorance since he and his home were nowewhere on any agenda)
As the Ds went to work she and her friends started their usual histronics, calling names, cursing, calling soldiers murders, pigs, and worse. Hmmm, sounds familiar.
As with any medium scale Security Op there barricades like the ones police use in the West ro cordon off areas of danger. There was also IDF Observers and other Security personel present, as well as the usual IDF Infantry Permiter.
Ms. Corrie and others REPEATEDLY crossed barriers, walked in the path of Ds, and interfered with the Swcurity Operations of a well armed army in a forieng nation. Funny, do not see many ISMers in Sri Lanka, Tibet, or Chechnya. Only Issrael is stupid enough to allow foriengers with no real business to enter conmtentious areas and even witness Security Ops.
D9s for those that do not know are huge machines on their own. When the IDF modifications are done however visibility is reducred to the low 2 digits, an average of 16%. CCTV alows the operator greater operational ability, as do specific observers communicating by radio, and one riding in the cab with the operator just to monitor the CCTV at all times. CCTV though is not magic, it has blind spots, as do the machines themselves.
In addition, as such a large machine, it has great momentum. Its engine is rated by the book at 416 HP I believe but our modifications, not able to disclose, boost that considerably. Its blade though is 7 X14 feet, so imagine the cab?The dimesioans are enormous and a small giurl as she was, is going to be a blip on an operator's CCTV screen, and if lucky al around the oberserver will havge spotted her. When a person like Ms. Corrie repeatedly runs in front of the machines, repeatedly being dragged away kicking, screaming in her little megaphone, and spitting, anything can happen and sadly did.
I find it amazing that people still have the gall to cal ISM a peace organisation. When it was forcibly taken down they tried to prevent the IDF from its pursuit, physicaly involving themselves as they so often do, guess peace is only in increments?
Found the man of course, as well as a more interesting find in an office, a cache of weaponry....Hmmmm....I guess people also forget how Ms. Corrie allowed herselves to stand in front of a class of Gazan tots, burning an American flag, grinning as people took pics of the young lady.
Then doctored photos turn up, her death is manipulated, even by Arabs although most even in pubic interviews expressed aggravation with the group of "do-gooders" who always got in the way of one or both sides. In reality? PRC actually came at AK point and threatned their lives in order to get them to leave, other unaffiliated gunme actually fired at their little camp. Arabs generally hate the foreigners as much as we do. The foreigners have their own agendas, and use the situation to ehr own advantage and Arabs are not a stupid people, nor naive. They interfere with a highly militarised nation's Security and Ops used to ensure that Security, and then whine when it goes against their wishes.They force their way into Arab schools and such and even Arafat, who praised her for proaganda aftyer she died, cursed the group when 10 of their stupid a##es ran into the Bet'l'chem Nativity Church and began to steal PLO limelight from the ensconced militants. Stay home then, as they should have, or come to people who want "your flag burning help."
You enter a war zone, you assume risk. That Israel would even allow foreigners, anti-Israel at that, into Gazas shows that their caims are nonsense. If Israel s the Oppressor, why allow sworn enemies to capitalise on it? What nation on the planet does it?
Do readers here know that at 4 that afternoon Arab snipers fired at our men and a grenade was tossed towards the IDf tank guranding the site with the Perimter? Why did ISM not leave then? Corrie might have had terrible judgement but there 8 of the 9 Gazan members there . Why did thery then continue to stay and try and throw down barriers? An hour later she is in front of a D9, kneeling???
Then, to top off this balagan,who writes the "eyewitness report" that gets picked up all over the world? "Joe Smith." That is right, Joe Carr the UK citizen who doctored the damn photos. Telling everyone it was inetitional because he witnessed it. What a fraud.
