Is it to early to start compiling a 'Best Of..' list for 2007?

I think not, lets beat Pitchfork to it!

My first choice is Wild Billy Childish - 'Joe Strummers Grave'

Radiohead - Bodysnatchers is the first thing that comes to mind, but I'd really have to think about it to make a proper decision.

Why are people so obsessed about 'The Best of' everything? I really don't get it...

I really really don't get it. Not just talking about urban, but in general - EVERYTHING has to be categorised into 'Best Of' lists.

The more I think about it the less sense it makes.

Lists are for lazy journalists and yes I'm really really really really sick of them as well. It just ends up being, to quote a letter in private eye recently, "a ceaseless stream of data unleavened by understanding"

well exactly, that's the point init? hear something really good you might have missed, like Von Sudenfed-'Rhinohead'

that's my second choice, Von Sudenfed, though maybe that should be for best album!

I think it was released in other countries in 2006 but in 2007 in the UK, so i'll nominate Robyn's "Konichiwa Bitches". Unstoppable pop genius.

ok, I'll play: but some of my choices are probably too commercial for this forum :

No Cars Go - Arcade Fire
Umbrella - Rihana (oh, yes, good music knows no boundaries )
Arctic Monkeys - Fluorescent Adolescent
Radiohead - Weird Fishes and All I Need
The Stabilisers - Do the braine (ok, they're my mates but it's a great tune!!!!) - they often support Billy Childish by the way
