Hmm...!
Just seen this - and enjoyed it enormously. Played like a film noir set in an American high school, with hard-boiled dialogue, an intricate crime plot and femmes fatales found therein.

Fabulous scene with Richard Roundtree as the school's vice-principal!

Very offbeat and entertaining. Anyone else seen it?

ETA: Damn! Just seen another thread on this! Well, I guess other people have seen it...

I did have my suspicions - especially with the "teen crime stories as a new craze" thing was going on (like the new US series "Laura Mars") - that it wasn't going to be all that, but I was genuinely surprised by how entertaining it was.

Shades of noir, Lynch, Coen Bros., all in an arresting school setting - good stuff!

Very good! Thumbs up.

I was almost ready to turn it off after 20 mins, just felt to juvenile for me, but thankfully its quirky off-beat charm kept me through to the end.
Certainely touches of Lynch there, and Donnie Darko, some really cool effects (mostly clever editing) and nicely photographed too.

On the whole a very enjoyable and easy watch, one for Sunday afternoon.

Edited to say that is was made for only $475,000
