Ive love em. They were one of my old fellas favourite bands. Im not saying Jim Morrison was the great songwriter is made out to be but the music was peerless and he had a great voice and was a brilliant frontman.

He did write some fuckin' ace tunes, and he wasn't bad at lyrics either - just couldn't do it for a WHOLE album :(

they're alright. some very good songs, but not as good as the fanatics would have you believe. but then, they're fanatics, what would they know?

jim morrison was a bit of an arrogant prick, i reckon.

and they should move his fucking grave.
 
this is going to sound really dodgy, and i'm prepared to take the flak, but the Doors are the sort of band (IMO) that it's probably good that you're into when you're 16 but terrible to be into when you're above about 20.

I loved the Doors when i was a teen because i believed all the bollocks about him being a Dionysian Lizard King poet. Then i realised he was an arrogant, appalling, largely untalented cunt. Some of the songs i can just about stand, but the rest....

I was a big fan in my teens and I still rate them as musically very good.

However, the lyrics are like sixth-form poetry. I thought that then and I think that now. I do like Morrison's voice still.

A handfull, and i mean a handfull, of songs i can abide, but the rest is pompous, self congratulating crap.
I swear if it wasn't for that movie with val kilmer, the rest of the world would agree with me too.

i kind of like their "vibe" (god, i just said vibe <shudders> ) but evenutally they bore me
