Murdoch takes out injunction against publication of 'fake sheikh' photo

Rupert Murdoch’s News International tonight obtained a 24-hour injunction against George Galloway MP, Ron McKay and those acting on their behalf against the publication of photographs of News of the World employee Mazher Mahmood, the “fake sheikh”.

The picture had already been circulated to Members of Parliament and the House of Lords, to the Queen’s private secretary and to others in public life who may be in targeted by Mahmood’s unscrupulous, agent provocateur methods. Ironically, the solicitors acting for News International, Farrer & Co, also act for the Queen.

haha - would they mind if the picture had been taken from a boat two miles away with a camera lens the size of a dustbin. I can't belive they are trying to block a photo after all the crap they print. Once again Galloway proves he's the greatest light entertainer since Dale Winton.

So how long until it appears on the net?

it seems to have gone from the blog it was on (it was on the respect site too earlier today) but if you google image Mazher Mahmood it's the first pic that comes up. Won't put it on here in case Murdoch comes after U75 next.. :eek:

Murdoch has been granted a 24 hour injunction. I presume a full hearing will take place tomorrow and his lawyers will have to give a judge a very good reason for extending the injunction. I can't see what they could say that would persuade a judge to do this. After all, if they had succeeded in scamming Galloway, it would have been his picture all over the News of the World and the rest of the papers.

I the judge laughs at them his face I hope is picture will be on the front page of every paper the next morning.

Does anyone have any photos or video from the 1999 John Alford cocaine trial? In the latest ‘Untold’ podcast they mention that sometime Daniel Morgan murder suspect Garry Vian (who is also the former brother-in-law of fellow sometime Daniel Morgan murder suspect Jonathan Rees) was Mazher Mahmood's bodyguard at the trial.
