"Today's tourist are ever more demanding of London - they wish to see a more true to life version of London, something different from the glitz and glamour of the West End. Brixton Tours gives exactly this, we show you a real life expression of London's life."

when i was doing a housing post grad course in 97, we were invited to brixton to tour an estate, i think it was angell town? about 20 of us were taken around the estate to show us the improvements that had been made...

From that page:

Tate Library
- Donated by the Tate Family in 1892. A family who had slaves for sugar cane, and invented the sugar cube.
Wasn't the slave trade long over by the time Henry Tate got involved in the sugar business?

tate became a partner in John Wright & Co. sugar refinery in 1859 and purchased the Langen patent on a method of making sugar cubes in 1872 so both facts are inaccurate to say the least

i went to the tate mansion once, in streatham, the tate family sold it in the 20s i think when he died, his will stipulated that it shouldn't be sold to a religious order.....

i went to visit my auntie, who is a nun :D

when they bought it, they went in disguise....didn't lie, just didn't mention the fact that they were a religious order

it's all luxury flats now i think, they sold it for a few million a few years ago...
