This would be like the Government employing a City Investment Banker to look over the benefits system to see how to help people in situations they could never imagine.

I heard him on R4 the other morning. He's articulate but what he has to say is essentially poisonous - i.e. let's look at what the unemployed 'can' rather than 'can't' do. It sounds innocuous and common-sensical but isn't.
The essential question is why people shy away from potential employers. I mean, let's face it, they are often unsympathetic to anyone who has the odd day off with flu.
The whole 'employer seeing employees as expendable numbers' question needs to be sorted before this country embarks on some kind of ill-thought-out welfare to work system.
