Holland v Italy game thread

Well he probably saw Panucci, so perhaps out of instinct thought he was onside ("there's the 'keeper and another blue shirt in front of me") but I'd wager it was probably mostly luck.

He checked the linesman a few times during the celebrations, make of that what you will :D

he claimed - according to Kuyts interview on the beeb - that he realised he was still onside - bot not that he deliberately moved into such a position, which replies indicate, he didn't (he was just there)

Very impressive game, and the Dutch impressed me with their assuredness and comfort in possession. It's too early to pick teams to win it yet, because very often the eventual winners start tournaments slowly, but so far the Dutch and Germans have impressed the most, albeit against very different standards of competition.

Also, he was a very fine player but did Donadoni's managerial naivity show last night? It was clear in the first half that Toni was isolated up front and not getting much support from Di Natele and Cameronese, and even less from the midfield. Del Piero and/or Cassano should have been brought on at half time for the anonymous Ambrosini to employ Toni to the full extent. As it was when they did come on it was far too late and Holland were playing keep-ball (and superbly too). Italy also looked a bit old and slow playing against the pace of the Dutch attack, especially Matterazi.

Whether the first goal was offside or not imo holland deserved it. They deserved to win 3-0. I hope the italians don't make it past the group stage.

Thier team is called young boys!!!!!(no really*)

brillient.

They played Celtic a few years ago, i remember "thank fuck Celtic don't let priests in for free any more"...

Not one little fucking bit happy at having to work stupidly late and miss this, sounds like it was an amazing game and the 2nd goal was just beautiful to watch. And i've never noticed before how much Donadoni looks like Wayne Coyne from Flaming Lips.
