What bike do you have?

I have one of these:

Ridgeback Velocity. An entry-level hybrid after not riding for about 15 years. It's... ok. It goes, it's reliable even if if does squeak & squeal like a little pig. Want a road bike next - something that doesn't have an aluminium frame so that I don't feel every frigging bump and piece of gravel on the road...

One of these, minus the bell and with stunt pegs on the back (till they got robbed a bit back). I've been thinking about spraying it black in the hope that people would stop trying to nick it.

Doesnt your one have the suspension in the seat post?

My bikes are a Ridgeback Genesis Day 2 and another Velocity (with the seat post suspension locked out because i hate it)

Yes it does, but it still doesn't make much difference, especially on the front forks - get numb hands after a long ride.

Hand made eh? What's the benefit there then?

well, according to the guy in the shop... it's stronger, a bit lighter, and a lot more expensive. :(

plus, they didn't have any normal ones and I was doing a long ride the next day. ;)

A Specialized compact frame HardRock hardtail. Really, it's the cheapest aluminium mountain bike frame of any quality.

I've got a specialized sirrus.. with a saddle and handlebars from a different bike, I forget which (I smiled sweetly in the bike shop and they swapped them for me ;)) it's still pretty shiney and new and I love it... just need the seat raised a little :)

Snap! That's exactly what I have - we obviously have good taste.

I bet my bike's just a bit bigger than yours though

I got one of these.

<sniggers>
<sniggers back when you're left outside a railway station and I pedal off into the distance>
<sniggers more when you get a flat tyre on a wet and windy night miles from home and I just fold up my bike and hop on a bus>

:D

4 bikes currently that are mine

Felt BMX racing cruiser, never raced but is very cool to ride round town in Summer.

Custom Build BMX, I fell off it too much and have to hold my hands up, I'm shit and it's unlikely I'll improve, I hurt too much, can't bring myself to sell it just yet though.

Peugeot 12 speed racer with gears ripped off. Found it on the street. Currently sat with flat tyres in the garage. Fast, gets me to work...when it works.

Pro spec BMX Race bike, bought it to part out and sell with limited luck so far.

I love bikes, got about 12 in the garage I think, can't resist buying them or getting them out of the tip.

Got a solid D-lock for it - I've had a few nice bikes nicked over the years - but now I wish I'd got the massive chain thing instead.

Whats with the no gears on some peoples bikes? Do you people not have hills or something? Whats the advantage?

I don't do gears. Too much to go wrong. If I was any good on a BMX I'd ride no brakes too. Bikes look best as simple as possible IMO.

Get the right gear and you're legs will get used to the odd hill.:)

I've got a Surly Cross-Check for riding to work and touring on. It's like this but in black and currently has flat bars:

and a Cove Stiffee for playing on (in silver):

Yeah, loads of fixed wheels on the TdF this year :p

Question for fixed wheel riders. What's it like going fast around tight corners and still pedalling? Do you have to slow yourself down so you don't have to lean over as much?

Specialized Allez elite frameset with cheap and cheerful double groupset. The frame was ridden 500 miles as a demo, and the shop swtiched all brand-new components from the entry level machine to this frame and sold it at the entry-level price. Bless 'em.

Rolls beautifully, unfortunately you feel every bump in the road. In fact, you even feel the white lines and cigarette butts.

I've got one similar to this...

Only mine is blue and yellow.

I got it off the insurance when my last bike got nicked. I didn't want rear suspension but I couldn't be arsed arguing the point with the insurance company.
