I had a look to see if I could change it to a public poll, but I can't, only correct spelling or add choices. Sorry :(

Thanks. Never mind, maybe people will say what they voted for.

I voted for Friar's street, because it has Europa Music; Il Vicolo, for chips and pizza; La Ciociara, Italian Restaurant; the Junk Rooms; and Oxfam is on the corner. :)

Is the King's Street vote because The Burgh Coffee House is there? That's one of my hang-outs. (Right of the photo, with the banners on the pavement).

I've never been so only have the implied claim in the name to say that Broad Street really is wider than the rest - can you provide figures to back up this bold assertion danny? Well, can you?!?

I like the look of all of those streets. I voted for Friar's but it was a tough choice. I went with that one because of the small independent shops, and it looks older. I also had the impression that it might be higgledy piggledy but you can't really tell from that photo.

Good point. I'm going to have to look into this.

It is irregular in plan.

Does Baker Street have a 221B? That might put it in contention.

(ninja-edited in light of Fez's post :D )

Another the very good question....
So you're brought forward a vote on this important issue knowing full well that the facts required just aren't available! What's your agenda here, la rouge? I suspect a little research will show a series of dubious property deals in the royal burgh by offshore shell company DLR Holdings or the like :hmm:

Has anyone suggested that the best street would be the street one uses to leave?

Of the options I would probably plump for Friars Street. Europa music ftw etc.

:D I missed that; you're onto a winner as far more people care about one of the finest ancient towns in Scotland than some no-mark London suburb. So what about this Allan? Why is it his bridge?

That's an interesting point. The Allan Water is a river, and tributary of the Forth. It seems to contain three different words for water. Aluna, the ancient Celtic for water or stream, linn, the Scots for a waterfall, and the English word "Water", for, em, Water. Aluna Linn Water. Water water water. Bridge of Allan is the town that grew up around the place the Allan Water was bridged. It has the Allan Water Cafe chip shop, about which I told a humorous tale recently. (On the chatting up/sexism thread).
