Where have all the puy lentils gone?

All the supermarkets I've visited lately have stopped selling uncooked puy lentils. All I see now are over priced bags and tins of pre-cooked Merchant Gourmet. The local shops round my way also also completely devoid of them.

Have MG bought up all the competition, or signed some monstrous monopoly contract with the lentil growers of France?

I've been fuming re Sainsbury stopping selling them. Is it to make them like a luxury product or something. I shall b going to Brixton.

I'm rarely in Brixton during the day, but I'll have to make a special trip and stock up, ta Ms T.

I'm afraid their circular profile meant that five of them randomly laid out could all too easily resemble the Olympic rings. No retailer wants to risk a fine, so you'll have to wait until after the games.

Maybe a crop fail. It was really hard to get a certain kind of rice (Basmati I think) a couple of years ago and apparently that was due to too much or not enough rainfall.

I may have half a bag stashed somewhere, £30 a gram...

Supply and demand innit.

That said a lot of crops have failed this year due to unusual weather.

Have you tried big foreign supermarket/cash and carry type places?
