US: Boy shoots himself in head with submachine gun at gun show

When will America's ridiculous obsession with weaponry end? The kid was 8 years old and given a loaded Uzi to play with.
Death at show fuels US gun debate

New questions have been raised about US gun laws after a boy aged eight shot himself in the head with a submachine gun at a Massachusetts weapons fair.

Christopher Bizilj died after losing control of a recoiling Uzi submachine gun as he fired it at a pumpkin.

Both the boy's father and an instructor were present when the accident happened on Sunday at the gun show in Westfield.

State legislators are now considering drafting a bill banning under-21s from firing automatic weapons, reports say.

Read this in the papaer this morning, who in their right mind would give an 8 year old a submachine gun. Loopy bastards!

craziness - would it have been too difficult for them to have blanks in the gun?

and giving a gun to a kid, madness too

Silly cock. Darwin's law in action, albeit it should be the parents who got uzi sprayed rather than the child.

Since they wouldn't have made much impression on the pumpkin, yes.

Fucking idiocy alright, there are safe ways to let children shoot but an Uzi isn't exactly something i'd ever include in that description.

"This is a horrible event, a horrible travesty, and I really don't know why it happened," said Mr Bizilj, a hospital director from Ashford, Connecticut.

bit of an idiot then aren't you

The tricky thing is even if the US try to change gun laws how to they make the existing gun stock 'go away'

A bill banning under-21s from firing automatic weapons seems like something that should already be in place. In fact a ban on ALL weapons being fired by under-21s seems a little more logical.

Considering it are you? "Duuuuhhh, maybe we done wong"?

Bloody hell, you can't smoke fags or drink booze but go ahead and shoot shit up.

Not to american viewpoints its' not. It's a culture that recognises shooting as a sport and a recreation. To ban under 21s from all of it rather than just the stupid stuff doesn't make much sense.

it was'nt even a full scale uzi it was a micro uzi think pistol sized submachine gun most adults would have a hard time controlling one let alone a child. first time I fired an mp5k a similar if slighty bigger weapon rounds went sky wards and I was allegedly a trained soldier.
This was criminally stupid act.
I would have no problem with my child firing something like a GPMG on a tripod completely safe for them and anybody else . small machine pistols no way.
Americans have a right to bear arms a right taken away form us in the 1920s because fear of revolution:mad:
lots of Americans hunt.
Americans who hike or go into the outdoors can and do meet dangerous wildlife like bears mountain lions etc so having access to the means to defend themselves from said things is a good idea.
Mr bizijl probably can't conceive who'd give a full automatic machine pistol to an 8yr old I find myself confused as well

Meanwhile, in this country a man put his seven year-old daughter on a quad bike on a public road. That didn't end well either.

There will be parenting fail in every country regardless of the rules. People are stupid -- whaddya gonna do?

Seen this weapon demonstrated .We where not allowed to have a go as instructor thought it was dangerous to users .Idiots shouldn't get to play with guns .

LIkesfish

He WAS the cunt that GAVE him the OK

"Mr Bizilj told the Globe he had allowed his son to shoot the Uzi - which can fire hundreds of rounds a minute - because it was considered to have little recoil."

A HOSPITAL DIRECTOR??????/
Hes the fuckin "travesty" travesty as a human being and an uter failure as a Dad
Hope he gets his cock and vballs cut off
He needs to be stopped from breeding:mad::mad:

18. Have an Ouzie. Fine.
But no beer til 21. Budweiser is leathful stuff.

They can be quite fun actually, theres a biannual shooting faire thingy run down at Bisley which involves a small canon that you can load aim and fire. Deeply cool.

so how many times you had to shoot a bear or mountain lion mate? :)

The kid obviously had a prob with small arms, this is what dad keeps in the garden for fun

^^this, rather than a knee-jerk anti-gun response. (IIRC the little girl on the quad bike was killed.)

What part of finding it ludicrous to give an 8 year old child a machine pistol to fire is a 'knee-jerk anti-gun' response?
Yeah! What could possibly be wrong with giving a small child a fully loaded, high powered lethal weapon capable of firing hundreds of rounds per minute?!

Logic fail. Giving a child a gun is a parenting fail. That doesn't mean that banning guns completely is the only rational response.

And I firmly believe in a complete gun ban. But knee-jerking doesn't help the argument.
