Tory MP Gavin Barwell in idiotic tweet shocker - #Arab girls

One on one? You're crazy.

Conservative MP Gavin Barwell thought he was exposing a particularly shameless piece of political moneyspinning when he clicked on a link tweeted by Labour and found a press release accompanied by an advert saying "date Arab girls".
He wasted no time firing off a tweet to the party's press team and shadow schools minister Kevin Brennan, saying: "I know Labour are short of cash but having an invitation to 'date Arab girls' at top of your press release?"
However, what seemed like an easy strike might have turned into a something of an own goal.
The press team's reply began "oh dear", followed by a link to an explanation of how Google Adsense functions - that is, based on the preferences of a web user.

 think before you tweet Gavin

He is a supreme douchbag.
I feel like a am writing to him nearly every week because of the endless list of dumb arse things he campions.
Luckily he is also a bit lazy so generally he doesn't make it to parliament to vote on party line shit that he is always for.

Funny, and laughing at tories is always fun, but I wouldn't go rushing to conclusions about his web history based on Google Adsense. If there were websearch data suggesting that he was a man and he had visited a number of sites concerning Arab issues, this would be enough for him to be targeted with an arab dating site add.

He hasn't come out and said that though - he has been very quiet about the matter

If he was a smart man this would have been his immediate reply. He is all over twitter and facebook. Instead he suddenly went uncommonly quiet.

I'd hazard a guess he sent that message from his own personal laptop / desktop / smartphone.

I don't get this ad targetting.
I seem to be getting loads of targetted ads and spam to do with thyroid problems? has Google finally become clairvoyant and is now highlighting future health problems?

what is idiotic about this? He made a mistake. Simples. I opened a twitter account and just gave up on it as couldn't understand this re-tweet, hashtag shit.

He thought he was being clever - accused the Labour Party of benefitting from advertising Arab Girl dating sites - when it was his own ad history that put those banner ads on the page - so idiotic is pretty apt for this

Ah I get it now.

FWIW I get 'asian beauties' ads on Facebook and I've no idea what in my history would bring this up (though I'll confess to poking around dating sites). One ad this morning had a picture of someone's muff accompanying it, which I viewed at work (complaint sent to facebork, for what it's worth). Getting even closer to flushing the whole facebook nonsense down the bog, if they'll even let you do that.

Except his was about fry-ups or summat?
:D

no it was 'thai brides' apparently ;)

WHEN John Prescott spotted ads for Thai brides on Tory minister Grant Shapps’s website, he told the world about it, via Twitter. Unfortunately for Prezza, Shapps was able to point out that the adverts on his site are generated individually for each visitor, based on terms they’ve searched in their browser before

No one has made any implicit remarks. However the fact that Barwell didn't come back with a reply to attack the Presser might indicate his own concerns.
